SESGDโ€“MOST BARMM TODAY | Basilan Young Innovators Shine at the 3rd Bangsamoro Students' Innova-thon

The Science Education Scholarship and Grants Division (SESGD) of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) BARMM successfully concluded the 3rd Bangsamoro Students' Innova-thon at Sittie Auna Resort, Lamitan City, bringing together the brightest young innovators from the Schools Division of Basilan and Lamitan City for a three-day showcase of science, technology, creativity, and innovation.

More than 50 student innovators, accompanied by their dedicated teacher-coaches from various secondary schools across Basilan and Lamitan City, participated in collaborative workshops, mentoring sessions, prototype development, and innovation pitching. Throughout the program, participants transformed creative ideas into functional prototypes that addressed pressing local challenges, demonstrating the remarkable ingenuity, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities of Bangsamoro youth.

The program equips young Bangsamoro innovators with the knowledge, skills, and design-thinking competencies necessary to identify community needs and develop practical, technology-driven solutions to real-world challengesโ€”particularly those confronting the island provinces of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region.

By fostering creativity, research, collaboration, and an innovation mindset, SESGD continues to inspire and empower the next generation of Bangsamoro scientists, engineers, researchers, entrepreneurs, and technology leaders who will contribute to sustainable development and inclusive progress across the region.

The Bangsamoro Government's Ministry of Science and Technology โ€“ BARMM is pleased to announce that the application deadline for the Post-Graduate Assistance for Science Education (PASE) Program for Academic Year 2026โ€“2027 has been extended until July 30, 2026.

The PASE Program provides financial assistance to qualified Bangsamoro professionals pursuing Master's (MSc) or Doctoral (PhD) degrees in priority Science and Technology (S&T) fields. Qualified scholars will receive a monthly allowance of โ‚ฑ26,000.00, amounting to โ‚ฑ260,000.00 annually. A total of 50 scholarship slots have been approved region-wide by the Ministry of Finance and Budget Management for AY 2026โ€“2027.

Who May Apply?

โœ”๏ธ Bangsamoro professionals pursuing graduate studies in priority Science and Technology (S&T) fields.
โœ”๏ธ Applicants who have recently been admitted to, or intend to enroll in, accredited graduate programs in priority S&T fields recognized by MOST-BARMM.

DAY 3 | Plenary Session: Presentation of Participants' Outputs

The three-day Teachers' Training for Elementary Teachers concluded with a plenary session where participants presented their outputs, including Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS)-based test questions in Science, Mathematics, English, and Abstract Reasoning. These outputs showcased the participants' enhanced teaching and assessment competencies and will serve as valuable instructional resources in preparing learners for the Bangsamoro Science High School Competitive Examination.

DAY 2 | Teachers' Training for Elementary Teachers in Basilan

Day 2 featured interactive sessions in Science, Mathematics, Abstract Reasoning, and English, with a special focus on the development of Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS)-based test questions. Through collaborative workshops and practical activities, participants strengthened their teaching and assessment skills to promote critical thinking and deeper learning in the classroom.

SESGDโ€“MOST BARMM TODAY |Fifty (50) elementary school teachers from island schools under the Bangsamoro Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) have convened in Basilan and Lamitan City for the Three-Day Teachers' Training for Elementary Teachers conducted in partnership with the Philippine Science High School โ€“ Zamboanga Region Campus (PSHS-ZRC).

The training provides participants with interactive, inquiry-based learning experiences and collaborative discussions aimed at strengthening their content knowledge and teaching competencies in Science, Mathematics, English, and Abstract Reasoning. Through engaging workshops, hands-on activities, and learner-centered instructional approaches, teachers are equipped with innovative and practical teaching strategies aligned with the Kโ€“12 Curriculum, empowering them to deliver more meaningful, engaging, and effective learning experiences in their classrooms.

This capacity-building initiative reflects the unwavering commitment of the Science Education Scholarship and Grants Division (SESGD) of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) BARMM to advancing quality basic education through continuous professional development. By enhancing teachers' pedagogical skills, subject-matter expertise, and instructional competence, the program seeks to improve learner outcomes and strengthen the delivery of quality science and mathematics education, particularly in the island provinces of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

As teachers continue to grow professionally, they become catalysts for educational transformationโ€”shaping classrooms that inspire curiosity, critical thinking, innovation, and lifelong learning among young Bangsamoro learners.
