April 29, 2026 โ Cotabato State University (CSU), in partnership with Cotabato Regional and Medical Center (CRMC), underwent an official onsite evaluation by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in support of its application for a Government Permit to operate the proposed CSU-CRMC College of Medicine. The activity forms part of the regulatory process to assess the institutionโs compliance with national standards for medical education.
The evaluation team was led by CHED National Evaluators Dr. Maria Minerva Calimag, Dr. Ma. Cecilia Cuaresma-Cruz, Ms. Shiela F. Jalbueno, and Dr. Arnold John Anceno. They were joined by CHED Regional Office XII Evaluators Dr. Zohrahaydah N. Panawidan and Dr. Annabelle R. Dafielmoto. The team conducted a comprehensive assessment of the academic, administrative, and clinical components required for the establishment of a medical school.
The evaluation visit commenced at Cotabato State University, where the evaluators were formally received by university officials, faculty, and staff, led by University President Sema G. Dilna and CRMC Chief Ishmael R. Dimaren, MHA, FPCS, FPSGS, FPSCRS. The initial phase focused on the review of institutional documents, governance structure, faculty qualifications, and the proposed curriculum for the College of Medicine.
Following the evaluation at CSU, the team proceeded to Cotabato Regional and Medical Center for an ocular inspection of the clinical training facilities. The evaluators assessed the readiness of CRMC as a partner training hospital, including its laboratories, simulation areas, library resources, and essential medical equipment. The inspection aimed to determine the adequacy of facilities that will support the clinical education and training of future medical students.
An exit conference was conducted on April 30, 2026, during which the CHED evaluators presented their initial findings. The team highlighted the key strengths of the proposed program as well as areas requiring further compliance. The discussion provided guidance to the University and its partner institution in addressing necessary improvements in line with CHED standards.
The conduct of the evaluation visit marks an important step in CSU and CRMCโs joint effort to establish a College of Medicine. The initiative reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to quality medical education and strengthening healthcare services in the region. The University remains committed to meeting all requirements and looks forward to the outcome of the evaluation process.
