This morning, a successful 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗘𝘅𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁 was conducted under FRM 412 – Forest Resources Enterprise Development and Management, featuring student-developed forest-based products, marketing strategies, and business plan presentations.

[𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗] The College of Forestry shares the publication of the study “𝐑𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐝 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐢𝐨 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞 𝐝𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐨, 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬” in AACL Bioflux (2025).

The study was conducted by Forester Farida K. Dimalen, Forester Juliever G. Tabiosas, Forester Joharto K. Kusin, and Forester Wegie F. Bernales, in collaboration with other researchers from different colleges of Cotabato State University. The study assessed the water quality of the Rio Grande de Mindanao, with results showing compliance with Class C water quality standards, providing baseline information for water resource management and environmental planning.

[𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐍𝐎𝐖] The College of Forestry faculty members are currently participating in the Year-End Extension In-House Review with the Theme: “𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞, 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞, 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞: 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭, 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬,” held at the SBK & Function Hall, Cotabato City. This engagement reflects the college’s sustained commitment to strengthening extension competencies and advancing meaningful community development initiatives.

𝐃𝐫. 𝐀𝐫𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐢𝐥 𝐀. 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐣𝐚𝐲, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐎. 𝐁𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐚, and 𝐃𝐫. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐳 𝐂. 𝐀𝐛𝐚𝐬 served as the panel evaluators for the activity.

[𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒] The College of Forestry welcomed 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘇 𝗖. 𝗔𝗯𝗮𝘀, Director for Instructions, who visited the office to conduct a brief orientation for the faculty. She discussed the updated Instructional Modules, Laboratory Modules, and OJT Manuals, emphasizing the importance of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) in aligning outcomes, activities, and assessments.

The College extends its appreciation to Dr. Abas for her visit and valuable guidance.

[LOOK] Yesterday, three of our faculty members participated the oral and poster presentations during the 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗔𝗟𝗔–𝗜𝗥𝗗𝗖 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺 𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 𝐚𝐭 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐟 𝐇𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐥, 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐬 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲, as part of the ongoing MINSUPALA–Innovative Research and Development Consortium. Their presentations focused on key environmental studies: For. Joharto K. Kusin presented the rapid assessment of birds and trees, For. Juliever G. Tabiosas presented the rapid assessment of water quality in the Rio Grande de Mindanao, and For. Wegie F. Bernales presented the geomorphic characterization of five sub-watersheds in the Liguasan Marsh. Their participation reflects our continued effort to contribute meaningful research for Mindanao’s waters and natural resources.

[EARLIER TODAY] Five faculty members from the College of Forestry, Cotabato State University, attended the “Upskilling Extensionists: A Training for Emerging Professionals” held at CityMall, Cotabato City. The activity was organized by the CSU Office of Extension Services to enhance the skills and competencies of extensionists and to promote excellence in community service.

Representing the College of Forestry were For. Joharto K. Kusin, For. Juliever G. Tabiosas, For. Wegie F. Bernales, For. Airah P. Kadil, and our Dean, For. Farida K. Dimalen. Their participation shows the college’s continuous effort to strengthen professional growth and capacity among its faculty members.

Dr. Ardneil A. Baladjay served as the resource speaker and shared inspiring insights on how innovation, collaboration, and responsiveness can further improve extension programs and community engagement.

Ang pagputol, pagkuha, at pagkolekta ng mga bakawan (mangrove) sa Pilipinas ay mahigpit na ipinagbabawal sa ilalim ng Presidential Decree No. 705 (Seksyon 43 at 68) at Republic Act No. 7161 (Seksyon 4).
Itinuturing ng PD 705 ang mga bakawan bilang Protection Forests, habang ang RA 7161 ay nagpatupad ng total log ban sa lahat ng uri ng bakawan, na tahasang nagsasaad na “Ang pagputol ng mga uri ng bakawan ay ipinagbabawal.”

Ayon sa Seksyon 68 ng PD 705, ang sinumang lalabag o magpuputol ng bakawan nang walang awtoridad ay paparusahan ng pagkakakulong at/o multa alinsunod sa itinakda ng batas.
