The PalawanSU Coron Campus GAD Office would like to express its sincere gratitude to the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD) for providing informative flyers on women’s rights and gender awareness. These materials were successfully distributed to the students, faculty, and staff of Palawan State University Coron Campus.

This initiative significantly contributes to raising awareness on gender and development, promoting inclusivity, respect, and the protection of women’s rights within the academic community. From Babaylans to Modern Filipinas: Honoring the Strength of Women 💜

From the wisdom and leadership of the babaylans of our ancestors to the courage and resilience of today’s Filipinas, women have always played a vital role in shaping our communities, culture, and nation. Their strength, leadership, and dedication continue to inspire progress and equality.

In the Philippines, the celebration of women is recognized through the following proclamations and law:

• Proclamation No. 224 s. 1988 – Declaring the first week of March each year as Women’s Week and March 8 as Women’s Rights and International Peace Day

• Proclamation No. 227 s. 1988 – Providing for the observance of the Month of March as Women’s Role in History Month

• Republic Act (RA) 6949 s. 1990 – Declaring March 8 of every year as National Women’s Day

In solidarity with this meaningful celebration, PalawanSU – Coron Campus joins the nation in celebrating International Women’s Day, honoring the legacy of women from the babaylans of the past to the empowered Filipinas of today.
