Breaking new ground and making history! We are incredibly proud of our OLJ grade 10 who successfully debuted their drama production, who made their mark representing Central Visayas at the regional theater festival, the 19th Tanghal Festival - Visayas, a project of the NCCA National Committee on Dramatic Arts.

Their original piece, "Pause Muna, Peace Muna," written by the class with the help of Ms. Mayumi Maghuyop, captivated audiences and made our school the first Tanghal representative from the Municipality of Consolacion. Thanks to the unwavering support of our LGU, our student artists were able to share their original play, "Pause Muna, Peace Muna: Make the Change," with the rest of the Visayas in Biliran, Leyte.

The 19th Tanghal Visayas University and Community Theater Festival, held in Biliran province from September 25 to 28, 2025, focused on the theme "Arkipelago: Theatre X Climate Action". The celebration highlighted how theater can be used as a platform for environmental protection and climate change advocacy. Our students joined other participants from university and community-based theater groups across the Visayas region, covering Western, Central, and Eastern Visayas in activities, including: performances, workshops covering topics like musical theater, traditional dance, and roundtable discussions among young theater makers focusing on climate action and sustainable practices.

Despite the storm, the festival was able to bring Outreach performances at the Naval Evacuation Center to bring comfort and hope to those affected by Tropical Storm Opong.

Their journey is an inspiration to all aspiring artists in our community. The Our Lady of Joy performing groups participants are as follows:

Katreese D. Petiluna
Adilyn A. Almario
Kate Mariel C. Pelen
Mieka Angel S. Ramo
Johann Angelo V. Gabatan
Marta Xeltiel C. Montecillo
Justine Rose Y. Tongcos
Nikaela Joy A. Sabalande
Faith Mclaire P. Doncillo
Kenshin A. Enfado

Accompanied by their adviser, Ms. Mary Rose V. Maghuyop.

Once again, huge congratulations to the talented students, teachers, and supportive families behind the original play, "Pause Muna, Peace Muna: Make the Change." Your artistry has made our community so proud!

Responsibility is doing our part ๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒ

Our students have had such a busy month of September!

After their 2nd Prelim Examinations, the inter school games were abuzz. Students from our elementary and high school competed with schools from all around Consolacion last September 19-21, 2025 at the Consolacion District Meet.

Right after, our community celebrated the International Day of Peace, Grandparentโ€™s Day, and Buwan ng Wika in a spectacular culmination at SM Consolacion.

The weeks have been busy and full of enthusiastic energy for all our activities. Our students have been diligently preparing for their presentations, sports, and other projects โ€” they embody what it means to be responsible. Our athletes were even able to pick up garbage and contribute to a worldwide effort at clearing our waters of plastics for World Coastal Clean up Day.

Plant a habit and harvest a character;

Thank you for loving your children, for teaching them about the value of responsibility as we celebrate being active and responsive members of our county and our Planet! ๐ŸŒโค๏ธ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’™

Kalingaw sa August!! ๐Ÿ’›โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™

We culminated the month with our Buwan ng Wika program with the theme, โ€œPaglinang sa Filipino at Katutubong Wika: Makasaysayan sa Pagkakaisa ng Bansa.โ€ With our Pinoy Day games and Filipino crafts such as: puso-weaving, jewelry-making; we truly celebrated the Filipino spirit. We hope everyone got to enjoy a uniquely Filipino experience.

Thank you for helping our children learn more about being Filipino, make more Pinoy memories and appreciate our culture! ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ๐ŸŽŠ

At Our Lady of Joy, we explore the Love reflection point: I can have love for myself, love for my family, love for others, love for my country, love for my goals, and love for the world all at the same time as we kicked off our Buwan ng Wika Celebrations! ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญโ™ฅ๏ธ๐ŸŒ

Please see some of the pictures from last weekโ€™s Pinoy Photoshoot. Each class had the opportunity to pose in their looks and scenes celebrating Filipino heritage.

OLJOY is truly A.L.I.V.E.:

We are brimming with J๐Ÿ’›Yful News: Congratulations, Hendrix Satinitigan, Gr.7, for winning 3rd place sparring/labanan in the World Arnis Competition held at CTU Main Campus! Great job! We thank supportive parents, families and GM Carlos Campana. Thanks for the snacks, Bacus family๐Ÿฅง
We would also like to congratulate Nyxie Bagnol, Gr.6, as well for her willingness and hard work to experience a major competition for the first time!๐Ÿ‘
With the interschool games coming up, our teams are gearing up to represent the school. The OLJ team has just started our volleyball training in preparation for the District Meet. We are very glad to announce that we now have a new coach/trainer- Sir Alex Tirando. He is proudly our very own award-winning athlete from Jugan who has been a Mayorโ€™s Cup player. He is the uncle of Sofeia Gr.8 and we thank the latter for connecting us with Sir Alex. The trainees just had a whole morning of serious training and learning. Go, Team!๐Ÿ

Additionally, our High School Z-Club members are hard at work painting wooden cellphone stands to be given as giveaways in the coming Zonta Club International Conference at Macau this September. Organizers have been appreciating their output which features art inspired by the UN SDGs and the Zonta advocacies on women, children and the environment. Our students, especially the N.E.W. Gr.10 are truly being a J๐Ÿ’›Y and not a yoJ!๐ŸŒ

Our newly established Robotics Club is gearing up for more activities as we partner with CITUniversityโ€™s AI FabLab and the Tomahawk Team of Westwood High School. They are helping us build our first robot ๐Ÿค– and ushering us into the 21st century.

In other news, Buwan ng Wika is here! ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ๐ŸŸก๐Ÿ”ต๐Ÿ”ด
Letโ€™s show love for country as we wear our Filipino attires this Monday - no need to buy, just be creative with what you have at home. We shall be having class pictures as well to document โ€œyoung Filipinos in school.โ€

On Friday, Aug.15, we celebrate the Feast of the Assumption and our Founderโ€™s Day- Msgr. Oscar Villamor was a Marian devotee and he joined our creator very aptly, on a feast of our Lady. Msgr. Villamor was a Rector at the Diocesan College Seminary of San Carlos and parish priest of Our Lady of Fatima, Basak, Mandaue and San Nicolas Parish, Cebu City. We shall be having a mass at 8:00 am within regular Friday activities with a focus on Mary and the value of the month, Love.

This month has just begun and we are excited to see how it all goes! See you all tomorrow and have a JOYful week ahead โ˜€๏ธ

Our recent Intramural Games were a massive success, all thanks to the incredible teamwork and camaraderie of our school community! From friendly competition to joyful family gatherings at our annual Food Fiesta, every moment was about building connections and having a blast. Seeing our school community come alive like this is truly heartwarming. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽ‰

Our sincerest thanks to the following:
- our barangay, through Barangay Capt.Tony Pepito, for the tents loaned to us for the occasion ๐ŸŽช

Day 1 of the 2025 Intramurals was incredible: a day full of laughs, concentration, team effort, and all around JOY!
Students cheered in the day with their performances before heading off into their different sports and games. It is wonderful to see how our students come alive especially through learning how to persevere and building character beyond the classroom. ๐Ÿ’›

We are the future and the future is here! ๐Ÿค–๐Ÿฆฟ

We are starting off the school year with a blast; last July 6, 2025, students and faculty had the opportunity to learn about Robotic construction and Simple Programming in a workshop conducted by Mr. Rodelio Creer and the Westwood Robotics Club of Texas, USA. Mr. Creer, who is an adviser of the club, came and brought the kits himself and, together with members in the US, they conducted the hybrid workshop through Zoom. The Robot kits have been generously donated to the school by the team.

We are excited to see how our OLJoy community can use this technology in projects to come. A BIG thank you, once again, to Mr. Rodelio Creer and the Westwood Robotics Club of Texas! ๐Ÿฆพ๐Ÿฆพ๐Ÿฆพ

Our Lady of Joy is truly A.L.I.V.E.! ๐ŸŒž

Coming from a busy summer, students, faculty, and staff have had opportunites to learn and grow. The teachers had their Faculty Training with CEPAPSA, Advocates of Living Values Education, and Positive Childhood Experiences with guest speakers from Cebu International School.

Students had fun and enriching actvities in their summer classes and our OLJ Z Club even went on a special trip to plant Mangroves with other members of the community!๐ŸŒฑ

The first few weeks of the school year have started and the fun and learning continues. Stay tuned to see the activities as they unfold.

Remember; Be a JOY, not a YOJ! ๐Ÿ’›
