LOOK | Conner Campus Opens New Academic Year, Welcomes Students and New ASC President
The Conner Campus of Apayao State College formally welcomed students and its sixth president, Dr. Emmanuel James P. Pattaguan, on Wednesday, July 1, as the College opened Academic Year 2026-2027. The welcome was held through separate programs at the Main Extension Campus in Cubet and the Main Campus in Malama.
The occasion also marked the third day of Dr. Pattaguan’s first 100 days in office after the formal turnover of leadership from Dr. John N. Cabansag on June 29 at the Luna Campus. Campus Academic Dean Dr. Randy A. Cabilatazan delivered the welcome remarks and officially received the new president on behalf of the Conner Campus. College officials, faculty members, personnel, and students also joined the ceremony to express their support for the new administration.
The program continued with the introduction of Dr. Pattaguan by College Board Secretary Dr. Nobleza C. Sadao, who recounted his 33 years in the field of education. She highlighted his advocacies in parenting, youth empowerment, environmental education, strategic leadership, organizational development, and educational innovation, which have influenced generations of learners and educators.
For his part, Dr. Pattaguan, whom his former students fondly call “Tatay James,” shared that he accepted the presidency of Apayao State College because of his admiration for the province’s natural beauty, his respect for its people, and his enduring passion for teaching. He expressed his aspiration to produce graduates who will excel in licensure examinations and professional practice through the collective efforts of the College’s academic and administrative workforce. He added that the institution must continue to strengthen its quality assurance systems and invest in the capability development of faculty members and personnel to sustain excellence in instruction, research, extension, production, and public service. Dr. Pattaguan also called on the entire ASC community to ASCend together toward the CREST, Culture, Research and Innovation, Excellence, Sustainability, and Transformation, which he described as the guiding direction of his administration.
The program ended with the closing message of Vice President for Administration and Finance Services Ms. Jemmarie S. Kotoken. She thanked the students for choosing Apayao State College and expressed confidence that the aspirations of the new administration would be achieved through the collective support of the entire academic community. She also reaffirmed the College’s commitment to continuously improve its services for all stakeholders, especially its students.
