Knights of the Altar – In the 50’s to mid 70’s, there was an organization called, Knights of the Altar in Concepcion, Tarlac. The Knights of the Altar was organized by the town's Catholic School, Holy Spirit Academy (SSPS) and the Catholic Parish Church to assist in the celebration of the Holy Mass and other Church’s functions.
Back then the Holy Mass was celebrated in Latin and the Knights of the Altar were required to memorize and respond in Latin. The training to be a full pledge Knight was very rigorous. The trainees were called Page. When the Pages were ready to celebrate the Mass, they were promoted to Knights. The leaders were called Grand Knights.
As a token of gratitude, the Catholic Parish took the Knights of the Altar on excursions to various Seminaries.
