The Gender and Development Office of Northern Iloilo State University–Concepcion Campus (NISUCC) proudly joins the nationwide 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW).

In solidarity with this advocacy, the NISUCC community, students, faculty, and staff, shows support by wearing orange shirts every Friday, symbolizing hope and a future free from violence.

This year’s campaign, which began on November 25, 2025 and will run until December 12, 2025, serves as a powerful reminder of the university’s commitment to promoting gender equality, safeguarding women’s rights, and fostering a safe, inclusive environment for all.

𝙉𝙄𝙎𝙐𝘾𝘾 𝙀𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙨 𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙇𝙂𝘽𝙏𝙌𝘼+ 𝙊𝙧𝙜 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙂𝘼𝘿'𝙨 𝙎𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩

August 15, 2025— NISU Concepcion Campus - LGBTQA+ students from different programs gathered in an official orientation for the creation of a new organization named Balangaw NISU-CC.

The event carried the theme “Paghinun-anon sa Balangaw: A Conversation with LGBTQ+ Students,” recognises members of the LGBTQA+ community in the campus.

It was spearheaded by Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Person Prof. Nelson S. Panes, in collaboration with the Student Affairs and Services (SAS) Director, Dr. Brandon P. Rivera.

The organization aims to provide counseling and social activities to help students connect and understand one another.

During the orientation, Prof. Panes emphasized that all students have the right to access privileges and protection against gender discrimination, bullying, and GAD-related issues, regardless of their gender, sexuality, or identity.

“Usually, if may mga problema kamo–like gina-bully, i-report lang diri. We will immediately take action for that," assuring the attendees.

Moreover, Dr. Rivera also shared his vision towards a more inclusive environment in NISUCC prioritizing individual expression especially the LGBTQA+ members in the campus.

"Diri ya [NISU CC], we're very much open. Wala kami nagalimit sina–wala kami naga-discriminate," he urged.

It gathering which happened in the Guidance Office, concluded an election of the organization's first ever officers.
