Pacaña outlasts Langgawisan for badminton title, earns Marvalaa spot
Sixteen-year-old basminton player from Mapawa National High School (MNHS), Chris Joy C. Pacaña outplayed Langgawisan National High School (LNHS) to claim the Girls Single B badminton championship at the 2026 Maragusan East District Meet held here on July 11. She sealed the match with a final score of 31–13.
“Mag pray, mag training gabie ug buntag tapos matulog ug sayo,” Pacaña shared about her steady preparation for the game.
When asked what motivated her to give her all, she said: “Last year naman gud naku, tas gusto ko ba nga nakoy mapatunayan sakong sarili and sa family naku ug friends, kay para sakong pag practice ug paghago kay nakoy ma abot.”
She also left a message for aspiring athletes: keep moving forward whether you win or lose. That is just how the game works there are victories and defeats, so we all need to accept both with an open heart.
Langgawisan NHS showed true sportsmanship, saying that winning and losing are part of playing and should be accepted gracefully.
With this championship win, Pacaña has officially qualified and will represent the district at the upcoming Marvalaa meet.
