To equip young farmers with practical skills in soil testing and nutrient management, the Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Poblacion, in collaboration with agriculture students of Davao de Oro State College, conducted “Pag-ugmad: Future Farmer’s Upscaling” on April 28, 2026, at DdOSC Maparat Field Laboratory.

The activity focused on developing participants’ knowledge in soil testing, identifying soil nutrients, and proper soil management to support sustainable farming practices.

Dr. Dernie T. Olgera served as the resource speaker, delivering lectures and hands-on field demonstrations on basic soil analysis techniques and their importance in improving crop productivity.

Participants included agriculture students and youth from Barangay Poblacion, highlighting strong collaboration between the academic community and the local government.

The initiative forms part of SK Poblacion’s efforts to empower the youth through agriculture and promote science-based and sustainable farming practices in the community.

In line with its commitment to empowering communities and future agricultural leaders, the Future Farmers of the Philippines Collegiate Chapter (FFPCC), under the Agriculture Department of Davao de Oro State College – Main Campus, proudly conducts its community outreach program titled “Pag-ugmad: Future Farmer’s Upscaling.”

With the theme “Protecting the Land, Securing the Future, Empowering Future Farmers,” the activity aims to strengthen awareness, knowledge, and skills of young learners and community members in sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship.

This initiative is facilitated by the dedicated FFPCC, Crop Science and Crop Protection 3rd Year students, in partnership with SK Poblacion – Compostela, whose unwavering support and collaboration make this outreach possible. The program is further enriched by the presence of Guest Speaker, Dr. Dernie T. Olguera, Program Head of USEP, who will share valuable insights to inspire and guide participants.

Through unity, service, and shared passion for agriculture, this outreach reflects FFPCC’s mission to cultivate not only crops—but also minds, hearts, and futures.

In preparation for the upcoming outreach program, the Future Farmers of the Philippines Collegiate Chapter (FFPCC), in partnership with the SK Poblacion officials and Agricultural Extension II students, conducted collaborative planning and preparations to ensure a meaningful and impactful activity for the community.

The preparation was led by FFPCC Adviser, Ma’am Jermely D. Requina, RAgri, together with FFPCC President, Mr. Keybrent Zamora, who actively guided the organization in organizing and mobilizing resources.

The initiative is made possible through the support and funding of Compostela SK Poblacion headed by Hon. Brian Khen Lape, SK Chairperson, along with the SK Poblacion officials, whose commitment to community service continues to empower outreach initiatives.

Through teamwork and shared dedication, this outreach program reflects the collective goal of serving with purpose and making a positive difference in the lives of others.
