| CPAf-UPLB expert urges strategic action plan beyond SONA 2026

"On July 27, 2026, Dr. Christopher C. Mantillas, Associate Professor at the Institute for Governance and Rural Development (IGRD) of the College of Public Affairs and Development (CPAf), University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), urged the government to look beyond the immediate concerns raised in the 2026 State of the Nation Address (SONA) and develop a long-term strategy that addresses the root causes of the country’s persistent problems during Radyo Veritas’ special program “Pag-uulat sa Bayan: State of the Nation Address 2026.”
Mantillas acknowledged the President’s response to issues currently affecting the public but stressed that identifying problems is only the first step toward meaningful reform."

| CPAf Experts Lead Policy Review Training for DEPDev CALABARZON 📜

Experts from the CPAf-UPLB served as resource persons in a two-day training titled “Capability Building on Policy Research and Review,” held on August 11–12, 2026, at Hotel Casiana in Tagaytay City.

The session aimed to strengthen evidence-based governance and institutional policy evaluation in the region. The training featured Associate Professor Aileen V. Lapitan and Institute for Governance and Rural Development (IGRD) Director Mayo Grace C. Amit, who guided technical analysts from the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) Region IV-A and partners from Provincial Local Government Units (PLGUs).

Classes in UPLB shall shift to online mode (asynchronous or synchronous) on Saturday, 22 August 2026.

Classes with scheduled activities (laboratory work, clinical rotation, etc.) shall coordinate with the faculty-in-charge.

Units shall adopt appropriate flexible work arrangements.
