Oliva tops KS3 in Pop Quiz

Mikaela Oliva, a Grade 8 student from Claveria Rural and Vocational School (CRVS), emerged as the champion in the Araling Panlipunan Pop Quiz, a highlight of the Showcase of Talents and Skills in the Festival of Talents. The event tested learners’ knowledge of Philippine history, geography, culture, and key social issues.

The competition featured participants from three secondary schools: Claveria National High School (CNHS), Claveria School of Arts and Trades (CSAT), and Claveria Rural and Vocational School (CRVS). Contestants demonstrated mastery of topics aligned with Key Stage 3 (Grades 7–10) standards, including Family Life and Responsible Parenthood, Gender and Development, Population and Reproductive Health, and Sustainable Development.

The quiz consisted of 21 items across three rounds—Easy (8 items), Average (7 items), and Difficult (6 items)—with a total of 40 points. It aimed to develop 21st-century skills such as communication, creativity, and critical thinking while promoting cultural appreciation and responsible citizenship.

As the champion, Oliva will represent the Municipality of Claveria in the Division Festival of Talents (DFOT), scheduled on November 25, 2025, at Allacapan Vocational High School, Allacapan, Cagayan. This prestigious event will gather top performers from across the division, providing a platform for learners to showcase academic excellence and leadership.

Oliva’s mentor in the competition is the perennial champion coach in AP-related competitions, Mr. Edwin G. Lagalo, Teacher III of Claveria Rural and Vocational School.

The success of Oliva reflects the dedication of Claveria schools to fostering holistic education and preparing students to become active advocates of equality, respect, and sustainable development in their communities.

The Claveria Rural and Vocational School (CRVS) opens Brigada Eskwela 2025 with a simple kick-off program on June 9, 2025, guided by the theme “Sama-Sama Para sa Bayang Bumabasa.”

The program was attended by students, parents, teachers, community leaders, and stakeholders who came together in the spirit of volunteerism and shared responsibility.

During the program, School Principal Dr. Corazon A. Llapitan emphasized the value of volunteerism and community involvement in shaping a reading nation.
