100 DAYS TO GO BEFORE THE SOLAR ECLIPSE! π
We will soon be treated to a Partial Solar Eclipse, when the Sun, Moon, and Earth align this 20 April 2023! This year's eclipse will be the last solar eclipse visible from the country until 2028.
Globally, the eclipse on 20 April 2023 is a hybrid one, the rarest type of solar eclipse. A Hybrid Solar Eclipse occurs when an eclipse shifts between annular and total as the Moon's shadow moves across the globe. According to NASA, the Hybrid Eclipse is visible from parts of Australia, Timor-Leste, and Indonesia (West Papua and Papua), and it is visible as a Partial eclipse from parts of south-east Asia, East Indies, Australia, the Philippines, and New Zealand.
Here in Manila, up to 23.8% of the Sun will be covered by the Moon at the maximum of the partial eclipse at around noon! Meanwhile, the southern parts of the country, particularly southeastern Mindanao, will have the best view during the eclipse since the path of the totality will be passing south of the Philippines.
