Upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), and in anticipation of continued heavy rainfall associated with the enhanced Southwest Monsoon, government offices in the National Capital Region and the provinces of Abra, Benguet, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Occidental Mindoro, and Oriental Mindoro are directed to implement appropriate alternative work arrangements on 19 August 2026.

Agencies delivering essential and vital services shall continue their operations. Alternative learning modes and learning continuity measures shall be implemented in public and private schools in the aforementioned areas.

The suspension of work or adoption of alternative work arrangements in the private sector shall be left to the discretion of management.

BPES Arnisadors Honored at SIGLAT Iskwela 2026 Following Dominant Medal Hauls

SANTA MARIA, ILOCOS SUR — Following a spectacular series of tournament victories, young athletes from Babal-Lasioan Elementary School (BPES) were officially recognized today as Regional Awardees in Arnis at the SIGLAT Iskwela 2026, held at the Chavit Coliseum. Their outstanding performance was headlined by gold medalists Sophia Bañez, Shiermane Cabanting, Erwin Macalalad, and Joseph Lance Lisbo in the Anyo Competition. BPES stick-fighters proved equally formidable in Full Contact events, with Aira Ghail Sequerra and Brent Jared Cabusao clinching gold, Franklin Casila securing silver, and Dinmark Frias capturing bronze.

The school’s athletic success was further highlighted by the trio of Erwin Macalalad, Dinmark Frias, and Joseph Lance Lisbo, who earned the bronze medal in the Anyo Competition while representing the R1AA 2026 Team. Behind every strike and block was the dedicated mentorship of coaches Mrs. Sheree V. Ambrocio and Mrs. Mirriam I. Dagdag, alongside the steadfast leadership of Teacher-in-Charge Mrs. Susan V. Pulanco, all of whom helped guide the young Arnisadors to regional prominence.

The celebratory moment at the Chavit Coliseum also honored the strong community network that fueled the athletes' success. Deep appreciation was extended to the parents and guardians of the BPES community, The Santa Maria Bastoneros, Barangay Captain Emeterio Dasalla Jr. for his unwavering support, and the entire teaching staff for providing continuous encouragement throughout the team's championship journey.
