๐๐๐๐ | UNP Holds 61st Commencement Exercises for CBAA and Cluster III Graduates
The University of Northern Philippines (UNP) held its 61st Commencement Exercises for the College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA) and Cluster III on May 13, 2026, at the University Gymnasium, honoring the academic achievements and perseverance of graduating students.
The ceremony formally began with the hooding ceremony, followed by the processional, entry of colors, and the singing of the Philippine National Anthem. This was followed by the presentation of candidates for graduation by CBAA Dean Dr. Erwin T. Tolbe, who presented 881 graduates. Degrees and certificates were then conferred before the commencement address and presentation of awards to honor graduates.
In her commencement message, Dr. Cherrie Melanie Ancheta-Diego, CESO III, Director IV of the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office I, described graduation as a โcelebration of success,โ recognizing the hardships, resilience, and dedication of students throughout their academic journey. She also called it a โcelebration of lifeโ and โcelebration of transformation,โ highlighting the sacrifices of families and the growth of students into โbetter versionsโ of themselves.
She reminded graduates that they are now โfuture nation-builders, innovators, public servants, advocates, and ethical leaders,โ encouraging them to use their education not only for personal success but also in the service of communities and the nation.

๐๐๐๐ | Cluster III Valedictorian Highlights Resilience in UNP 61st Commencement Exercises
Magna Cum Laude Erl Zigfreid P. Nalundasan of the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA) program delivered the Valedictory Address during the University of Northern Philippinesโ (UNP) 61st Commencement Exercises for the College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA) and Cluster III held on May 13, 2026, at the University Gymnasium, where he reflected on the shared struggles and experiences of the graduating batch. Recalling their journey during the COVID-19 pandemic, he described the graduates as a โtransitional bunchโ caught between online and face-to-face learning.
Nalundasan spoke about the pressures of academics, sleepless nights, financial struggles, and the silent battles students face throughout their college years, emphasizing unity and resilience by saying, โWe survived.โ He also acknowledged those who worked while studying, carried family expectations, and continued despite setbacks and difficulties. He paid tribute to their fellow student, Brent Lloyd Salvador, stating that although his seat may be empty, this moment is his too.
The ceremony also included the distribution of diplomas, the pledge of loyalty led by Queen Amery B. Bragado of the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Human Resource Development Management, and the induction of graduates into the UNP Federated Alumni Association led by its president, Hon. Nestor B. Pajaro.
The event concluded with the singing of the UNP Hymn, exit of university colors and the Philippine flag, and the recessional, marking the end of another milestone in the graduatesโ academic journey at the University of Northern Philippines.
The 61st Commencement Exercises served not only as a celebration of academic achievement but also as a recognition of the graduatesโ hard work, sacrifices, and perseverance throughout their college journey. As they leave the university, the graduates carry with them the knowledge, experiences, and values they gained from UNP as they begin a new chapter in their lives.
