Kaisa ng Philippine Commission on Women ang Office of the Press Secretary sa paggunita ng International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (IDEVAW).

Ngayong taon ay isinusulong ang โ€œUNiTEd for a VAW-free Philippinesโ€ na magbibigay ng importansya at pagtitibayin ang mga naipasang batas para labanan ang VAW.

The United Nations General Assembly adopted in 1996 the Resolution 51/95 proclaiming 16 November as the International Day for Tolerance. The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization or UNESCO Member States' Declaration of Principles on Tolerance in 1995 stresses that tolerance does not signify indulgence nor indifference. It means "respect and appreciation of the rich variety of our world's cultures, our forms of expression and ways of being human."

Tolerance demonstrates recognition of the inherent dignity and basic freedoms of other people. In our diverse and increasingly connected world, tolerance and understanding are essential to our harmony and very survival. Today's observance also stresses the State's duty to ensure inclusion and opportunities for all, especially the disadvantaged ones, which is an imperative to exemplifying and promoting tolerance in our society.
