A Monthly Enlightening Mass and Rising Above Peer Pressure: Say No to Drugs

Mambaling National High School conducted its monthly Mass on July 31st to enlighten students, ensuring they are continually guided and protected by God’s light and love as they navigate the challenges of youth.

Today’s school Mass reflected on a powerful Gospel where Jesus returns to His hometown and faces intense doubt and judgment from the people who knew Him best.

Instead of letting their opinions change His mission, Jesus stands firm and refuses to let their negative attitudes stop Him from doing what is right.

This relates directly to the heavy peer pressure high school students face today, especially when it comes to drugs and substance abuse.

It can be incredibly difficult to stand your ground when you are worried about what your friends might think, but Jesus models the exact bravery needed to rise above temptation and say no to peer pressure.

True strength means having the courage to resist negative influences and make healthy choices for your future, even when the crowd is pulling you in the opposite direction.

By carrying the grace of this Mass and the lessons of our Drug Symposium into our daily lives, the Mambaling NHS community remains committed to choosing courage, protecting one another, and walking faithfully in the light of God.

Say no to drugs today, so you can say yes to every opportunity tomorrow.

Here is the story of Joco, a 17-year-old high school student in Cebu City. He started using illegal drugs after his friends convinced him that they would help him forget his problems. What began as "just trying it once" soon turned into a dangerous habit. He stopped attending classes, stole money from home to support his addiction, and was eventually arrested during a police operation. Instead of preparing for graduation, he spent months in detention while his parents endured heartbreak, shame, and disappointment. A single decision changed the course of a once-promising future.

This story is fictional but is inspired by situations that have occurred in many communities, including Cebu City. It does not depict or refer to any specific individual.

Lesson: Drugs never solve problems—they only create bigger ones. They can take away your future, your freedom, and the trust of the people who love you most. The saddest part is that once addiction takes hold, breaking free becomes one of the hardest battles a person can face.

The recently concluded Drug Awareness Symposium at Mambaling National High School aimed to educate and empower our students to stay away from illegal drugs and choose a life filled with purpose, hope, and opportunity.

This initiative serves as a reminder that every student has the potential to build a brighter future by making wise choices and standing firm against the dangers of substance abuse.

Mambaling National High School extends its heartfelt gratitude to the following individuals and organizations for making this activity a success:

* Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) – Mambaling
* Police Station 11
* Barkada Kontra Droga (BKD) – Mambaling National High School
* Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG)
* Mambaling Scouts
* Sir Rivas, National Drug Education Program (NDEP) School Coordinator and BKD Adviser
* Sir Ylaya, BADAC School Representative
* Mam Braña, SSLG Adviser
* Mam Vaflor/ Sir Jeboi, Scout Leaders
* Guest Speakers

Your unwavering support, dedication, and commitment to protecting and guiding our learners are deeply appreciated. Together, let us continue to build a drug-free, safe, and responsible school community.

ADB x Khan Academy Program (Year 2) Empowers Learners Through Digital Innovation

Empowering learners through technology and innovative teaching, Mambaling National High School officially launched the ADB x Khan Academy Program (Year 2) on July 24, 2026. The initiative provides students and teachers with access to Khan Academy's interactive lessons, instructional videos, quizzes, and personalized practice activities that complement classroom instruction and promote mastery-based learning.

The launching also introduced the Growth Mindset, encouraging students to believe that intelligence, abilities, and skills can grow through effort, perseverance, and learning from mistakes. This philosophy inspires learners to embrace challenges, remain resilient, and view mistakes as opportunities for growth rather than obstacles to success.

Participants also explored Khanmigo, Khan Academy's AI-powered learning companion. Instead of simply providing answers, Khanmigo guides learners through difficult concepts using hints, guiding questions, and clear, age-appropriate explanations. By promoting critical thinking and independent problem-solving, it helps students build confidence and develop a deeper understanding of every lesson.

Aligned with the Department of Education (DepEd) curriculum, the platform supports classroom instruction under both the previous school calendar and the DepEd three-term school calendar, enabling teachers to integrate high-quality digital learning resources seamlessly into their lessons. Through this initiative, Mambaling National High School continues to harness technology to create engaging, inclusive, and future-ready learning experiences for every learner.

Congratulations to Mam Sangalang, Mam Cristal and Mam Kinkito for the deserving promotion to Teacher III! 🎉🎉🎉

Finally, Batch 1 of Mambaling NHS ECP applicants were all promoted!

✨ FROM YEARS OF WAITING TO WELL-DESERVED RECOGNITION ✨

After years of quietly dedicating themselves to the classroom, several educators of Mambaling National High School are finally stepping into a new chapter of their professional journey through the Department of Education’s Enhanced Career Progression (ECP) program.

Out of the school’s 46 teaching personnel, 15 educators were endorsed for promotion and reclassification under the ECP initiative. As of this writing, 12 have already been officially promoted, while 3 are still awaiting final promotion and reclassification advice.

The milestone marks a significant moment for the school, with nearly one-third of its teaching workforce advancing through a reform initiative that promotes merit-based career growth while allowing teachers to remain in the classroom.

Among the stories that resonated deeply within the Mambaling NHS community are those of Ma’am Herera and Ma’am Sanchez — educators whose years of faithful service reflect the very essence of perseverance and dedication in public education.

For more than 12 years, Ma’am Herera served as Teacher I, consistently guiding learners with passion, patience, and commitment. Long before recognition came, she continued showing up every day not for rank or title, but for the mission of teaching and shaping lives.

Similarly, Ma’am Sanchez dedicated over 11 years of unwavering service to her students and the school community. Through changing challenges in education, she remained steadfast in her commitment to learning, mentorship, and service.

Their journeys mirror the experiences of many teachers who spent years silently persevering in the profession — teaching, mentoring, and inspiring despite uncertainties in career advancement.

Now, through the Enhanced Career Progression program, their years of dedication have finally been formally recognized.

Also among those who are to be recognized since she is yet to received her promotion and reclassification advise is Ma’am Sangalang, whose more than nine years of committed service will come to fruition.

The promoted and endorsed personnel from Mambaling NHS include:

✨ 1 Principal III
✨ 5 Teacher VI (1 SHS, 4 JHS)
✨ 2 Teacher V (1 SHS, 1 JHS)
✨ 7 Teacher III (all JHS)

DepEd officials and personnel described the development as more than a promotion milestone, calling it a reflection of institutional growth, rising standards, and strengthened excellence within the school community practices.

Behind every promotion is a story of sacrifice, resilience, and commitment to learners. And behind every new title is a teacher whose impact has long been felt inside the classroom even before formal recognition arrived.

For Mambaling NHS, the achievement serves as a reminder that years of faithful service and dedication to education do not go unnoticed.

Congratulations to all ECP beneficiaries of Mambaling National High School. Your journey continues to inspire the entire community. 🎉

📚🎒 A Great Start to the School Year!

Starting a new school year can be exciting, but it also comes with many expenses for our students and their families. That is why programs like this truly make a difference.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Barangay Mambaling Captain Roseller V. Salvador for his initiative in providing school supplies to our Senior High School students through the Back-to-School Program. This simple act of generosity will go a long way in helping our learners start the school year prepared and motivated.

Our thanks also go to Education Committee Head Edwil Managbanag, together with the Barangay Councilors and SK officials, for making this activity possible. Their efforts show how much they value the education and future of our young people.

The activity was attended by General PTA President Eduardo Mansueto and SHS Coordinator Roselou Delima, who joined in showing support for our students as they begin another chapter of learning.

Seeing our community come together for the benefit of our learners is truly heartwarming. Beyond the school supplies, this program reminds our students that they are supported by people who believe in their dreams and want them to succeed.

To Kap Roseller, the barangay officials, and everyone involved, thank you for investing in our students. Your kindness and support are deeply appreciated by the entire Mambaling NHS and Senior High School community.

💙 Together, we help our students start strong and move closer to a brighter future.
