In this age where "instant everything" is the demand and "expectation," there is an age-old axiom at work in the background that will NEVER be disproven!

If craftsmanship requires time and precision, and you rush the process, you will not get what you want!

My business gets approached all the time by companies wanting us to train their staff in a language for which they have a beginning level of ABSOLUTE ZERO! Even though they know that it takes more than a decade of training and use for native speakers of the laguage to master it, they expect "miracles," looking for a training company that can bring their staff from ZERO to "proficiency" in "weeks," which simply cannot be done. The human brain is simply not wired for such torture!

If one has ZERO ability in a language, if they have 6-8 hours of classroom meeting-time each week and an additional 10-15 hours of consistent-concentrated-outside home-study, it will take close to 2 years of intense frustration and struggle to achieve a level of proficiency (comprehension and expression) needed to enter the workforce or education in a foreign country.

For example, Japanese has 5 government-recognized proficiency levels. To go from ZERO to Level 5, requires 150 class hours and between 300-500 personal-study hours. To approach anything approaching the proficiency of a "native speaker," if you have the resillience to stick it out, you will need 750-1000 hours of classroom instruction and 2500-3500 additional hours of personal-study, and even then, course work alone will NOT get you there. You will need to USE WHAT YOU LEARN along the way and the more you apply yourself, the better the result will be. Like it or not, this is simply the reality of language acquisition. There might be exceptions to the rule, and some people do have a gife of acquiring languages, but for the average person looking to acquire a working level of proficiency for a new language, this is the journey!

Short-cutting the process will result in what we see in the video. Language acquisition is much more complex than asking directions and ordering from a menu. For Japanese, I have just one word to prove the point... KANJI!

Be warned... Anyone who represents the situation to you differently is most likely just trying to get your money!
