🎓 Celebrating the Graduating Class of 2025 🎓

Hello Engineers and Masterands! As the Graduate School Commencement takes place tommorow, we take this opportunity to honor and celebrate the achievements of our esteemed graduates.

👷🏽‍♂️ Meet Engr. Christian Breth M. Burgos 👷🏽‍♂️

Engr. Chris Chan Bret Borgz will be the first DOST STRAND-N2 ME Graduate Scholar at CTU to earn his MSc in Mechanical Engineering (MSME) degree tomorrow. His research, “Computational Analysis and Design Optimization of a Ducted Split Air Conditioning (AC) System with Fabric Air Distribution (FADs) for a University Gymnatorium,” as testament to his interest in advancing computational analysis in HVAC and Energy Systems through research.

He earned his BSc in Mechanical Engineering in Applied Mechatronics from CIT – University, graduating Cum Laude, and made it to the roster of professionals (PRC) as a Registered Mechanical Engineer (RMEE) and Registered Master Plumber (RMP), he also holds multiple certifications in safety (SO2), sustainability (CSDP), technical drafting (NCII), and process improvement (CSSWB) balancing academic rigor, professional competence, and lifelong learning.

Before his current role as Faculty Member at National University, he taught in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at CTU-Main and as a Lecturer at SCSIT-Cebu City Campus. He also owns an engineering consultancy firm CBBECo, and is also actively contributing to the academic and research community by serving as a guest speaker and as a judge/panel member in various local and national research conferences.

We are proud to celebrate Engr. Burgos' remarkable academic and professional milestone. May this set as an inspiration to our current and future graduate students. 🌟

👷🏽‍♂️ Meet Engr. John Paul B. Jacalan 👷🏻‍♂️

We are proud to announce that Engr. John Paul B. Jacalan will graduate with a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering this Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Waterfront Cebu. His research, “Innovate Carbon Capture and Utilization: Investigation of Mineral Carbonation of Flue Gas Using Chitosan-Based Adsorption,” reflects not only his technical expertise but also a vision for sustainable and innovative engineering solutions that address real-life challenges.

From earning his degree on Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at Cebu Technological University-Main Campus during the peak of pandemic in year 2020 to passing the Mechanical Engineering Licensure Exam in February 2022, Engr. Jacalan first applied his expertise in the construction industry, serving as Project-In-Charge and QS Engineer on various projects, gaining hands-on experience and practical insight into the field. Since 2022, he has been shaping the next generation of engineers as an instructor at CTU – Dumanjug, sharing his knowledge and experience with his students. He has proven that excellence in engineering comes from both knowledge and hands-on application.

The Graduate School of Mechanical Engineering of CTU proudly celebrates Engr. Jacalan's accomplishments and dedication. His journey reminds us that perseverance, innovation, and a commitment to learning are the keys to achieving milestones that inspire others and shape the future of engineering. 👷🏽‍♂️ Meet Engr. Rommel F. Canencia 👷🏻‍♂️

Engr. Rommel Fernandez Canencia will earn his Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (MSME) degree this sunday. His research, “TOPSIS-YOLO Decision Fusion with Mel-Spectrogram Analysis for Engine Fault Detection,” reflects his strong commitment to advancing mechanical engineering in both technical and theoretical aspects. He earned his BSME at the University of Cebu Main Campus (2011) and a Diploma in Professional Education at Mandaue City College (2019). He passed the PRC Mechanical Engineering Licensure Exam in 2012 and the PRC Licensure Exam for Teachers in 2024.

Before his current role as an Engineering Educator at Cebu Technological University, he served as Faculty in the Marine and Mechanical Engineering Department at UC—Lapulapu and Mandaue campus (UCLM). He also worked as a Field Mechanical Engineer at Makati Development Corporation – Avida Towers Riala Condo Project, Cebu IT Park, Cebu City Site.

We are proud to celebrate Engr. Canencia's remarkable academic and professional milestone. May this set as an inspiration to our current and future graduate students. 🌟

Before we Merrily welcome Christmas, we would like to officially introduce our Graduate Students who will get their degree before the year ends.

🎓 Honoring Our Distinguished Graduate 🎓

Hello Engineers and Masterands! As the Graduate School Commencement draws near, we take this opportunity to honor and celebrate the achievements of our esteemed alumni.

Meet Dr. Philip Earl C. Banuag, who completed his Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (MSME) in 2022. His research, “Development and Testing of a Portable 4-Way Powered Compact and Lightweight Thermoelectric Refrigeration System,” reflects his strong commitment to innovation and applied engineering.

Since then, Dr. Banuag has earned his PhD in Technology Management and is currently pursuing a Juris Doctor degree. He studied Chemical and Mechanical Engineering at the University of San Carlos, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 2015.

Before his current role as a Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist at the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), he served as a Researcher, Equipment & Process Engineer, and Technical & Service Engineer, gaining extensive industry experience.

We are proud to be reminded of Dr. Banuag’s remarkable academic and professional journey. May this set as an inspiration to our current and future graduate students. 🌟
