In the early morning of August 21, 2026, a fire broke out at 4:32 a.m. in Sitio Kiosko, Barangay Basak Pardo, Cebu City, leaving several families homeless and in urgent need of assistance. Based on the initial situation report released at 6:10 p.m., the incident affected 7 houses, displaced 21 families, and impacted a total of 66 individuals who lost their homes and essential belongings.

We are appealing to everyone with compassionate hearts to extend financial assistance to the families affected by the fire. Your monetary donation, no matter how small, can help provide immediate relief and support their recovery as they begin rebuilding their lives.

CEBU CITY β€” Josenian swimmer Miguel Sarabosing made waves in three swimming competitions from June to July 2026, collecting 11 medalsβ€”two gold, seven silver, and two bronze across various swimming events in Cebu and Bohol.

Sarabosing opened his medal campaign at the Imman Basic Swimming Technique Novice and Developmental Swim Cup 2026, held June 27–28 at the GTNA Recreational Center in Tayud, Liloan, Cebu, where he secured four medals.

He earned silver in the 50-meter backstroke, 50-meter butterfly, and 50-meter freestyle, while adding a bronze in the 100-meter freestyle.

The Josenian swimmer continued his strong showing at the 4th Sandugo sa Bohol Swimfest 2026, held July 18–19 at the Victoriano D. Tirol Center in Tagbilaran City.

Sarabosing dominated the backstroke event with a gold medal in the 50-meter backstroke and added four silver medals in the 100-meter backstroke, 100-meter freestyle, 4Γ—50-meter freestyle relay, and 200-meter freestyle, bringing his haul in the meet to five medals.

He capped his campaign at the PAI ABC Short Course Swim Series 2026, held July 25–26 at Sacred Heart School–Ateneo de Cebu.

Sarabosing captured gold in the 800-meter freestyle and bronze in the 200-meter breaststroke, adding two more medals to his collection.

Across the three competitions, Sarabosing demonstrated versatility by competing in freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, breaststroke, and relay events, finishing with 11 medals overall.

His three-meet campaign produced two golds, seven silvers, and two bronzes, establishing Sarabosing as one of the Josenian swimmers to watch in the local competitive swimming scene.

4 JOSENIANS MAKE HISTORY IN EASL FUTURE CHAMPIONS

HONG KONG β€” Four Josenian student-athletes made history on the international stage as they helped the EASL Future Champions Cebu Elite All-Stars capture the inaugural East Asia Super League (EASL) Future Champions Elite championship in Hong Kong from July 24-26, 2026.

Representing the Team Cebu are players from the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R), Kent Luthet Labitad, Dereck William Wenceslao, Mc Dome De-Asis, and Brix Tristan Hernando proudly carried the Philippine flag alongside the Cebu delegation in the international youth basketball tournament.

The Cebu City All-Stars capped their historic campaign with a 61–52 victory over Macau at Kai Tak Sports Park, becoming the first-ever champions of the EASL Future Champions Elite tournament.

Adding to the historic feat, Labitad was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) for his outstanding performance throughout Cebu’s championship campaign, further highlighting the caliber of Cebuano and Josenian basketball talent on the international stage.

The championship marked a significant milestone for the four Josenian athletes, who joined Cebu’s elite young players in showcasing the city’s homegrown basketball talent against emerging players from across East Asia.

With their historic championship and Labitad’s MVP recognition, the four Josenian cagers brought pride to USJ-R, Cebu City, and the Philippines, etching their names in EASL history.

The Junior High School Department of the University of San Jose–Recoletos will conduct this school year's first Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) General Assembly on August 2, 2026.
