VAMOS: The University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) squad’s three-peat goal is now within reach as they advance to the Grand Finals of the CESAFI Esports League (CEL) Season 4 MLBB tournament.
On the morning of April 25, at the Cebu Institute of Technology - University (CIT-U) Wildcats PlayLab, USC faced CIT-U in a lower bracket semifinals best-of-five series. The Warriors survived a tightly contested match, securing a 3–2 victory.
Later that day, USC faced a rematch against the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters — the very team that sent them down to the lower bracket. This time, however, the Warriors delivered a statement performance, sweeping UC 3–0 to secure their slot in the Grand Finals.
The USC Warriors stand as the reigning MLBB Grand Champions of CEL Seasons 2 and 3.
In Season 4, their playoff run hit a setback as they dropped to the lower bracket after a hard-fought 3–2 loss to the University of Cebu (UC).
But true to form, the Warriors bounced back — rising from the brink in a battle of survival against their longtime rival, the University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu & Mandaue (UCLM). USC outlasted UCLM with a crucial 3–1 victory, keeping their campaign alive.
Now, the USC Warriors are bound for the CEL MLBB Grand Finals at SM Seaside Cube Wing Atrium this May 2–3, as they aim to defend their legacy and complete a historic three-peat.
Let’s show our support for our Carolinian esports athletes as they continue to prove that Carolinian excellence shines even in the den of esports.

Woven in Cebu: Wear Local, Empower Local
This Fashion Revolution Day, we celebrate Cebuano fashion brands and styles by spotlighting local brands that redefine fashion through sustainability, innovativeness, craftsmanship, and culture. This form of recognition towards local brands, highlighting their efforts and process behind making their pieces intentional is an act of recognizing and remembering the wake of the Rana Plaza disaster in Bangladesh back in 2013, where a garment-factory collapse killed 1,134 people, inciting the world’s largest fashion activism movement. In an effort to mobilize citizens, brands, and policymakers through advocacy, the “WhoMadeMyClothes” movement recognizes the hands, minds, and hearts of the people behind each piece, wear, and accessory that we use daily.
With this, Today’s Carolinian showcases the story and intentionality behind Cebuano fashion brands, from clothing and activewear to swimwear, footwear, and accessories. By recognizing and choosing Cebu’s fashion scene, we do more than just wear a garment; we sustain livelihoods, honor heritage, and invest in a future where sustainable fashion is made valuable, paving the way to ecologically mindful production while also valuing ethical production over income-focused and profit-chasing means within the fashion industry.

IN PHOTOS: Carolinians, family, and relatives of Braille Nichole Kwek gathered for a candle-lighting ceremony to pray and reflect, honoring her life and offering comfort to those she left behind on April 18, 2026, under the Pag-IBIG Flyover along Archbishop Reyes Avenue, where the incident happened.
Those who knew Nikki remembered her not only for her warmth, but for the sense of familiarity and comfort she brought into any room. “Nikki gave off a presence where she didn’t feel unfamiliar. Her presence felt like something you would feel in a high school reunion,” shared Rhafael Niño Louis T. Fuentes, a BS Mechanical Engineering freshman. “She was the first friend I made (in USC), and in an environment where we all needed something — like an anchor — Nikki became that anchor for all of us.”
To many, Nikki was more than a friend; she was a source of light during uncertain times. “I can see her as a happy pill. She changed my perspective of college — in the sense that you are not totally alone,” said John Joshua B. Torion, also a BS Mechanical Engineering freshman. “She was someone you could trust, and she was incredibly generous.”
“One thing we should do moving forward is to keep our friends close, even if we don’t (interact) with them as much anymore. A simple greeting can go a long way,” Torion added. “Please cherish those moments. You’ll never know when you’ll see them for the last time.”
In the soft glow of candlelight, the gathering became more than a tribute as it was a collective promise to remember Nikki through the kindness she embodied and the connections she nurtured. Though her presence is no longer physically felt, the impact she made continues to live on in the lives she touched, reminding everyone to hold their loved ones a little closer while they still can.
