Beep Beep Books - Mobile Library

Beep Beep Books is a mobile Jeepney library under It Matters that brings books to communities with limited resources in and around Cebu, Philippines.

Beep Beep Books is a mobile library inside a jeepney that will travel to local communities in and around Cebu, fostering a love for literacy in children. Sharing an upbeat, contagiously enthusiastic, insatiable hunger for learning is the goal. This project, organized under It Matters, is not only aimed at bringing books into the hands of little ones with little access to literature, but will also

serve as an opportunity to train and inspire local teachers in best practices in the art of teaching. Taking it a step further, Beep Beep Books is interested in involving university students currently studying to become future teachers in order to build a strong foundation for a lasting impact on education in Cebu. Join us as we begin to build our library and journey forward with this effort together! The project is still in the beginning stages, but we are confident that if people near and far join the effort, big things can happen for education in Cebu.

| Beep Beep Books | Stories that Matter |: by Gen

Four years ago today my friend Stephanie passed away.

On days like today, many stories and flashbacks resurface. I am so thankful for these memories; over the years I found great comfort in sharing them. These stories have helped me grieve and passing them along helped me change them into something positive. Sharing the stories helped me learn to let go of the pain by transforming it into a celebration. That is why it was important for me to have Stephanie painted on Beep Beep Books. Steph who adored books more than anyone else I know. Steph who reminded me on our last visit that I still had some of her books and I vowed to find a way to bring them back to her. Steph who loved teaching. Steph who would have loved this project and been so proud of it. Beep Beep is now a part of Steph’s story. And as Beep Beep goes along teaching, inspiring, and entertaining, Steph will continue to shine through.

Four years ago you passed away. Today I would like to dedicate to you all the love and hard work it took to create Beep Beep Books. Thank you, Steph, for your boundless inspiration. For me, it matters a whole lot.
