For Jonas Cabase, success was never about overnight achievements—it was built through years of hard work and continuous learning.

A CITE Batch 23 graduate of Electromechanics Technology in 2017, Jonas now works as a Cooperative Assurance Coordinator at Mavenco Cooperative, where he oversees insurance claims, coordinates with clients and providers, and helps ensure efficient day-to-day operations.

His latest milestone came when he secured Rank 7 in the Certified Operations Management Specialist (COMS)® examination on July 18 and 19, 2026—a moment he describes as both surreal and deeply rewarding. COMS is an assessment examination of the basic knowledge in the field of marketing management by the Center for Professional Advancement and Continuing Education, Inc. The examination is designed to assess the fundamental knowledge that an aspiring or practicing marketing professional must possess.

Examinees who pass and earn formal certification of their designation are authorized to use the title Certified Operations Management Specialist.

"When I first saw the results, I had to read the list again to make sure it was really my name," Jonas recalled. "After the initial shock, I felt overwhelming gratitude and relief. All those late nights reviewing had finally paid off."

𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐚 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

Jonas credits CITE with laying the foundation for both his career and academic journey. His training at CITE not only equipped him with technical knowledge and hands-on skills but also instilled in him the values that continue to guide him in the workplace.

"The discipline, responsibility, teamwork, and professionalism I learned at CITE helped me adapt to different roles—from Machine Operator and Inventory Analyst to my current position," he shared.

Those same values inspired him to continue his education through the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP) at the University of San Jose–Recoletos while working full-time.

Balancing work and studies was challenging, but Jonas viewed every obstacle as an opportunity to grow. He eventually pursued a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Operations Management, a program that complemented his professional experience.

𝐀 𝐌𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐄 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐬

Looking back, Jonas believes that lifelong learning is the key to sustained success.

He encourages current CITE students to maximize every opportunity to learn, develop not only technical competence but also discipline, communication, teamwork, and professionalism—qualities that employers value just as highly as technical expertise.

"Never stop learning," he advises. "Continue pursuing higher education, certifications, and new experiences. Believe in yourself, stay focused on your goals, and remember that success comes through hard work and perseverance, and the willingness to keep growing."

Jonas Cabase's journey is a testament to what CITE scholars can achieve when technical excellence is matched with determination and a commitment to lifelong learning.

As CITE enters the second wave of its recruitment campaign for the Production Technology Program, the Admissions Team continues its roadshow efforts to reach more aspiring scholars and provide life-changing educational opportunities to Filipino youth.

With a target of recruiting around 200 students for the one-year Production Technology program, CITE has intensified its community outreach by visiting municipalities, barangays, and select high schools across southern Cebu. The campaign targets out-of-school youth, ALS graduates, and Senior High School graduates, both male and female, especially those who are unable to pursue higher education due to financial constraints.

To bring the program closer to prospective learners, the Admissions Team conducted recruitment and orientation activities in the municipalities of Barili, Moalboal, and Alcoy. The team also visited the following schools to introduce the program to school administrators:

Mantalongon National High School
Bartolome and Manuela Pañares Memorial National High School
Bitoon Vocational National High School
San Juan National High School (Moalboal)
Badian National High School
Madridejos National High School (Alegria)
Santa Filomena National High School (Alegria)
Hilario Davide National High School (Argao)
Casay National High School
Dalaguete National High School
Alcoy National High School
Sibonga National High School

During these visits, the team introduced the Production Technology Program, discussed the available scholarship opportunities, highlighted the program's industry exposure component, and encouraged students to consider technical education as a practical pathway to employment and career success.

The recruitment campaign further reached Lapu-lapu City through the urban poor committee, where the Admissions Team conducted an orientation on August 4, 2026. The activity gathered some 50 aspiring applicants from urban poor communities and island barangays, extending CITE's reach to make quality technical education accessible to all.

Interested applicants may still apply for the remaining slots by completing the online application at bit.ly/productiontechnology. Successful applicants may proceed with the admissions process while slots are still available.
