The 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐬, in partnership with the 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐨 under the leadership of 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐫 𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐞 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬, recently conducted the 𝑺𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒓 𝒐𝒏 𝑭𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝑯𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑩𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 for its beneficaries, that are the 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐨 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐂𝐞𝐛𝐮.

Across two days of interactive and practical sessions on 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟒–𝟏𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, participants learned essential skills in food safety, menu planning, costing and pricing, marketing, customer service, and sustainable business practices, equipping them to elevate both the quality and efficiency of their food ventures. With the support and expertise of our 𝐒𝐁𝐄 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬, vendors gained valuable insights that will help them grow and thrive in Toledo’s dynamic local food scene.

This initiative reflects the shared commitment of SBE CES and the City Government to empower local entrepreneurs and nurture community development. Together, we continue to champion progress and partnership in building a truly 𝑱𝒐𝒚𝒇𝒖𝒍 𝑻𝒐𝒍𝒆𝒅𝒐.

The 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐬 (𝐒𝐁𝐄), in partnership with the 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐨𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 (𝐂𝐄𝐒), joined the university-wide effort to support communities affected by the recent earthquake in Northern Cebu.

Through the collective generosity of the SBE departments, the Departments of 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦, 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐀𝐝𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐲, and 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐬, as well as the 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐬, donations were gathered, organized, and turned over to CES and other university volunteers, who ensured that relief goods reached over 𝟯,𝟱𝟬𝟬 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 across Northern Cebu. From 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮 𝘁𝗼 𝟴, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱, the SBE community—students, faculty, staff, and alumni—worked hand in hand to extend help beyond the classroom, contributing to the preparation of essential supplies for the affected areas.

Relief distributions on 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟵 brought much-needed support to 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘆 𝗕𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘆, 𝗕𝗼𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻; 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘆 𝗔𝗻𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲, 𝗕𝗼𝗴𝗼 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆; 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘆 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗱, 𝗦𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗼; 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝘆𝗵𝗮𝗴𝗼𝗻, 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻; 𝗢𝗱𝗹𝗼𝘁 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵, 𝗕𝗼𝗴𝗼 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆; 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘆 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮, 𝗗𝗮𝗮𝗻𝗯𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻—each visit serving as a reminder that the Carolinian spirit is strongest when shared.

The 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝑨𝒔𝒊𝒂 & 𝑶𝒄𝒆𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒂 𝑹𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑯𝒖𝒃 (𝑼𝑨&𝑶𝑹𝑯) of 𝐃𝐞 𝐋𝐚 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 (𝐃𝐋𝐒𝐔), in partnership with the 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐨𝐬 (𝐔𝐒𝐂), officially opened the 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞-𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐅𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 (𝐒𝐋𝐒𝐅) 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 on 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟑, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, at the 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞, 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 (𝐒𝐀𝐅𝐀𝐃), 𝐔𝐒𝐂 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬.

The event gathered student leaders from 𝟐𝟔 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫-𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚 & 𝐎𝐜𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧 to advance the practice and institutionalization of service-learning. According to 𝐔𝐀&𝐎𝐑𝐇 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐫. 𝐉𝐢𝐦𝐢 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐚, Uniservitate seeks to help Catholic universities fulfill their educational mission through meaningful service to others.

𝐅𝐫. 𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐣 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧, 𝐒𝐕𝐃, 𝐔𝐒𝐂 𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐟𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐬, expressed his gratitude for the partnership and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to integrating service-learning into the Carolinian curriculum as part of its mission of Education with a Mission.

The week-long fellowship, running from 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟑–𝟏𝟎, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, empowers student representatives from USC and other institutions to develop leadership, compassion, and a deeper understanding of societal issues through engaged service and reflection.

🌿𝐅𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 🌿

On 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟐𝟎, the 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 was conducted at the 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐭 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐥 of the 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐨𝐬 – 𝐃𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬, bringing together faculty members and partners in a collective effort to strengthen the university’s outreach and community engagement initiatives.

The session highlighted the importance of sustained collaboration and strategic planning in implementing projects that embody the Carolinian values of compassion, service, and excellence. By aligning efforts with the university’s mission to promote social transformation, the orientation reaffirmed the shared commitment to making a meaningful impact beyond the campus.

𝐶𝑜𝑛𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑢𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐶𝑎𝑟𝑜𝑙𝑖𝑛𝑖𝑎𝑛 𝑡𝑟𝑎𝑑𝑖𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑜𝑓 𝑠𝑒𝑟𝑣𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑝𝑢𝑟𝑝𝑜𝑠𝑒 𝑎𝑛𝑑 ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑡.

On July 19, 2025, the 𝐔𝐒𝐂 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐬 journeyed to 𝗕𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗻𝗴𝗮, 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗮, 𝗖𝗲𝗯𝘂 —a remote community with big hearts. A needs analysis was conducted in the area, with the outreach focusing on extending care and support by distributing school supplies, sacks of rice, and hygiene kits, while also offering interactive lessons on proper hygiene and financial literacy to empower both students and their families.

This meaningful effort was made possible because of the collective commitment of many hands and hearts. We give our deepest gratitude to the faculty and staff who took charge of planning and logistics, the volunteers who devoted their time and energy, and the community members who welcomed us so warmly.

The initiative serves as a reminder that being a Carolinian goes beyond the pursuit of academic excellence. It is also about living out service, compassion, and solidarity, and making a positive difference wherever we can. Together, we continue to build connections, inspire change, and embody the true spirit of community.
