PASIUGDA 2026: PRESENTATION OF GENERAL AND SPECIFIC PLANS OF ACTION

The society invites all members to the presentation of the General and Specific Plans of Action (GPOA/SPOA) of our official candidates for the UPPSS Elections 2026. This serves as an opportunity for members to gain a deeper understanding of each candidate's vision, platforms, and proposed initiatives for the upcoming term.

𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗔𝗣 | Last May 20, 2026, the students of PS 199.2 (Research in Political Science) Section B successfully held their thesis presentations.

The research presented covered a diverse range of critical and contemporary issues, extending from disaster preparedness frameworks to the complexities of gray spaces. These studies highlight the cohort's engagement with pressing socio-political challenges and their dedication to rigorous academic inquiry.

An incredible milestone for the UP Cebu Political Science Program! A team of student researchers is to present their study at a major double international conference this 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 in 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗻𝗴, 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗮: the 𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗕𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 (𝗜𝗖𝗢𝗡-𝗜𝗥 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲) and 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗔𝗣𝗜𝗦𝗔).

Their paper, "Millennials, Social Media, and Progressive Movements: A Study of Perceptions and Engagement in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City" explores how millenials in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City, navigate political content online. Presenting under the panel "On Soft Power, Media, and Pop Culture," the study unpacks the fascinating disconnect between digital political awareness and actual offline activism among Filipino Millennials.

This pride-worthy research is co-authored by 𝗘𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗮, 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗸𝘆𝗻𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗵𝘂𝗴, 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗮, 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗵 𝗦𝗼𝗻, 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗼, and 𝗙𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮 𝗧𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗴.

As Cebu City continues to pursue rapid economic growth, important questions remain: Who truly benefits from development? How are vulnerable communities affected by urban transformation? And can economic progress genuinely coexist with social equity and environmental sustainability?

This virtual forum brings together experts and stakeholders to critically examine Cebu City’s localization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in relation to livelihood security, public markets, informal work, environmental governance, and community-centered development.
