UC Student Leaders Join ASEAN Event

UC Student Leaders Join ASEAN Event

The SAO-SCG together with the University of Cebu Council of Presidents - Main - UCCP, Senior High School SSC, and the LAKANDIWA representatives participated in the ASEAN Community Town Hall on May 8, 2026, held in Mactan, Cebu as part of the sidelines of the 48th ASEAN Summit.

The event was organized by the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI) and the ASEAN Youth Organization under the ASEAN for the Peoples Week 2026 initiative. The gathering brought together policymakers, youth leaders, academics, civil society representatives, and international delegates from across Southeast Asia to discuss key regional issues and strengthen public engagement in ASEAN affairs.

The town hall featured discussions on pressing regional concerns, including climate and energy security, sustainable development, and economic growth within the ASEAN region. Speakers and delegates emphasized the importance of building a people-centered ASEAN by encouraging active participation from communities, especially the youth, in shaping the future of the region.

Through the dialogue sessions, UC student leaders gained valuable insights on ASEAN cooperation and regional integration while engaging in meaningful discussions with fellow youth delegates. The experience also provided opportunities to exchange ideas, broaden perspectives on global and regional issues, and strengthen connections with emerging leaders across Southeast Asia.

As Cebu hosts the 48th ASEAN Summit and related meetings, the participation of UC student leaders highlights the university’s commitment to developing globally aware, socially engaged, and future-ready student leaders.

QUARTER 3 FINCON 2026

The Student Affairs Office (SAO), in collaboration with the SAO Student Core Group (SAO-SCG), successfully conducted the third quarterly Financial Convention (FINCON) for the academic year on April 24, 2026, at the UC Main Junior High School AVR.

The convention served as a platform to reinforce transparency, accountability, and financial responsibility among student organizations. Anchored on the institution’s commitment to integrity, the activity emphasized the importance of maintaining accurate and reliable financial records as organizations approach the end of their term.

Student Body Organizations (SBOs) from UC Main actively participated in the event, working closely with SAO personnel and SCG core officers. Through one-on-one sessions, participants reviewed, refined, and finalized their respective financial statements, ensuring compliance with established standards and best practices.

More than a routine financial check, FINCON 2026 highlighted the value of ethical leadership and responsible stewardship of resources. The initiative reflects and strengthens the SPARK leadership brand, fostering a culture of trust, accountability, and excellence within the student community.
