๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐!
The USC Supreme Student Council stands alongside workers in their ongoing struggle for rights, dignity, and just conditions. In a system where their labor sustains everyday life yet their realities remain precarious, it becomes clear that what is normalized is not always just, and what is productive is not always humane.
For the youth, this moment asks for more than awareness. It calls us to look closely at the lives behind the laborโthe conditions often left unseenโand to recognize how our own futures are already shaped by these realities. To be a socially conscious student is to step beyond distance, to listen without presumption, and to understand that the struggles of workers are not separate from our own, but part of a shared reality we are all moving toward.
Labor Day, then, is not only a recognition of contribution, but a space for reflection on what kind of conditions we accept, and what kind of future we are willing to be part of. The questions raised by workers today are the same questions that will define the lives we inherit tomorrow.
Solidarity takes root in understanding, and grows through the choices we make.

During the ๐๐ญ๐ก ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ of the USC Supreme Student Council held on April 30, 2026, a motion was raised to suspend Hon. Lopez. Following due deliberation, the Council, through a majority vote, resolved to impose disciplinary sanctions on the grounds of repeated inactivity and unexcused absences in accordance with Rule X of the SSC Internal Rules of Procedure (IRP).
In line with Section 2.2 of the said rules, the recorded absences without justifiable cause have reached the threshold warranting disciplinary action.
A one (1) week suspension has been imposed, alongside directives requiring a written explanation and attendance in a closed-door meeting with the President and Vice-President, in accordance with the prescribed procedures under the IRP.
This action is undertaken in the spirit of accountability, responsibility, and the commitment to uphold the standards expected of all elected representatives.

In light of recent developments, the University of San Carlos โ Supreme Student Council has sent a formal letter to the Vice President for Finance and the University President urging the suspension of the proposed Tuition and Other Fees Increase (TOFI) for Academic Year 2026โ2027.
This follows the recent pronouncement of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) committing that there will be no tuition increases for AY 2026โ2027, in consideration of the ongoing energy crisis linked to the conflict in the Middle East and its impact on Filipino households. CHED has emphasized that, while institutions face rising costs, this is not the appropriate time to impose additional financial burdens on students, alongside the declaration of a state of national energy emergency.
Given these developments, the Councilโs letter calls for a clear account of how the University intends to proceed in relation to the proposed increase.
This action also follows the position paper and petition initiated by the Council and the Conglomeration of Student Organizations, which consolidated student sentiment and reflected broad opposition to the proposed TOFI.
The Council remains committed to advancing student welfare and ensuring that concerns raised by the student body are formally addressed.
Further updates will be released as developments arise.

Pursuant to the memorandum issued by the University President, Fr. Francisco Antonio T. Estepa, SVD, on class and work arrangements for May 2026, the University will resume regular class schedules effective May 2, 2026.
This follows the conclusion of the temporary Reduced 4-Day Workweek Scheme. The said arrangement was initially adopted to help ease the impact of rising fuel costs on faculty and staff. According to the University, with the observed decline in fuel prices in recent weeks, the basis for this adjustment has been deemed no longer present.
Students are advised to prepare for the return to the standard academic schedule and to coordinate with their respective instructors for any clarifications on class requirements, meetings, or adjustments moving forward.
The Council recognizes the adjustments made by students throughout the implementation of the reduced workweek. As regular operations resume, concerns related to commuting costs, academic load, and access to resources remain valid and will continue to be raised through appropriate channels.
For any concerns or clarifications, students may reach out through official SSC platforms.
