Thinking about the heat? ☀️🔥
English has a variety of words to describe exactly how hot it feels. For ESL students, choosing the right word is a great way to sound more like a native speaker and add precision to your conversations! 📈
Here is a quick breakdown of English vocabulary for those "hot" situations:
English Heat Vocabulary
Stuffy – Lacking fresh air or ventilation.
Example: A room with all the windows closed.
Muggy – Humid, sticky, and oppressive heat.
Example: That "heavy" air before a rainstorm.
Scorching – Intensely hot or burning.
Example: When the sun is at its strongest at noon.
Balmy – Pleasantly warm and mild.
Example: A nice, gentle breeze on a summer evening.
Practice Makes Perfect!
Mastering these nuances makes your English sound much more natural. Instead of just saying "It's hot," try these:
"It's a bit stuffy in here, can we open a window?"
"The weather is so muggy today; I feel so sticky!"
"Be careful outside; the sun is scorching!"
Which word describes the weather where you are right now? Let's practice in the comments! 👇

Dili na gyud mada ang kainit sa panahon karon! 🔥☀️
Whether you are feeling the sticky humidity or the scorching heat of the sun, it's important to know the right words to describe what you're feeling in Cebuano. Today, we’re looking at four different ways to talk about "heat" and "discomfort."
Check out these common terms:
Alimúut – When a room is stuffy and lacks fresh air. 🏘️
Alingíing – That sticky, humid, and oppressive heat. 😰
Alingiting – The burning, scorching heat of the midday sun. ☀️
Ígang – Just a general feeling of being warm or moderately hot. 🌡️
How's the weather in your area today? Alingíing ba o alingiting? Let me know in the comments! 👇

This homework highlights exactly how we bridge the gap between "knowing" a word and "using" it!
In this session, we focused on Household Items, Colors, and Beach Vocabulary. It is not just about matching words like unlan (pillow) or balas (sand); it is about building the muscle memory to use them in real sentences.
Here is why this Talk-then-Write approach works so well:
Part 1 (Review): We start by making sure the foundation is solid.
Part 2 (Application): Moving into fill-in-the-blanks helps with sentence structure and grammar markers like ug and nga.
Part 3 (Creation): This is where the student shines! Writing original sentences—like describing two blue pillows or remembering playing in the river as a kid—makes the language personal and memorable.
Seeing progress like this is the best part of tutoring! If you want to move past basic flashcards and start creating your own sentences in Cebuano, I am here to guide you.

Sometimes doubt gets loud.
Prayers feel small.
Waiting feels long.
And the battle feels personal.
But truth is louder than fear.
Battles are won on our knees.
Silence doesn’t mean God is absent, it means He’s working where you can’t see.
His timing isn’t delayed, it’s designed.
Your story isn’t stuck, it’s still being written.
And you? You were never meant to fight alone.
Before you give up… pray again.
Before you panic… trust again.
Before you quit… remember who walks with you.
God hasn’t forgotten you. Not for a second. 🤍🙏🏻
