📣 UVisayanians, an exciting learning opportunity just unfolded!

The University of the Visayas, in partnership with Paytaca Company, successfully held 2 days hands-on training on Blockchain Development using CashScript.

This session gave our students an in-depth look at how smart contracts work in the Bitcoin Cash ecosystem, allowing them to explore real-world blockchain applications beyond theory. Students experienced guided coding activities, insightful discussions, and mentorship from industry professionals who are actively shaping the future of decentralized technologies.

We extend our warmest thanks to Paytaca for bringing their expertise to UV and for empowering our students with skills that are increasingly in demand in the tech landscape.

Congratulations to our beloved students who attained the Level 3 Competency Level in the Test of Practical Competency in IT. The individuals who earned level 3 marks are considered "Competent" and can effectively address technical and business problems, solving them at a university graduate level. TOPCIT is a performance-evaluation-centered test designed to diagnose and assess the basic competencies of IT specialists and software developers.

Taiwan’s Shu-Te University, represented by its Vice President and Dean of the College of Informatics Dr. Shi-Huang Chen, visited the University of the Visayas (UV) to strengthen academic ties. Both institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) focused on benchmarking their Information Technology programs that aims to enhance curriculum development, faculty collaboration, and student exchange.

Present during the MOU signing were UV President Dr. Conrado E. Iñigo Jr., International Affairs Department Director Mr. Rogie Nichole Aquino, College of Engineering Technology and Architecture (CETA) Program Coordinator Mr. Alan Felicano, DepEd Lapu-Lapu City School Division Superintendent Dr. Marilyn S. Andales, DepEd Lapu-Lapu City - Assistant School Division Superintendent Dr. Ronald Y. Ferrer, along with the instructors from CETA.

Right after the MOU signing, they gave Dr. Chen a tour of UV’s IT facilities and innovation centers.
The visit highlighted shared goals in advancing IT education and marked the beginning of a promising international partnership.

The College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture (CETA) emerged victorious against the College of Business Administration (CBA) during the first day of the Volleyball Women tournament elimination round on April 2, 2025, at the university quadrangle.

CETA took the lead by winning the first set 25-21 and maintained their dominance by securing the second set 25-18, ultimately claiming the win.
