Rogationist Seminary College - Cebu Conducts Year-End Assessment and Planning for AY 2025-2026

Cebu City, March 28, 2025 – Rogationist Seminary College - Cebu, Inc. held a crucial meeting to assess the academic year 2024-2025 and lay the groundwork for future improvements in the upcoming academic year. The gathering was led by Fr. Sherwin Valenzuela, RCJ, Dean of Student Affairs, alongside the officers of the Student Body Organization, known as “Banwag.”

The meeting focused on evaluating the institution's academic programs, student activities, and overall campus life for the current year. Discussions also covered strategic plans and potential upgrades for the academic year 2025-2026, emphasizing student welfare, academic excellence, and institutional development.

Following the productive deliberation, participants gathered for a dinner celebration at a local restaurant, marking the conclusion of a successful academic year and the beginning of new initiatives for the college community.

HIGHLIGHT | Verum Reigns as Overall Champion as Rogationist Seminary College-Cebu Concludes 20th Foundation Anniversary

The weeklong celebration of Rogationist Seminary College-Cebu’s 20th Foundation Anniversary ended on a high note on January 31 with the much-awaited Awarding Ceremony. The final day recognized the outstanding performances of the students in both the Literary-Musical (LitMus) and Sports Fest competitions, capping off a week of camaraderie, excellence, and spirited competition.

After days of intense battles in both intellectual and athletic arenas, **House Verum** claimed the title of **overall champion**, dominating various events with their skill, determination, and teamwork. **House Unum** secured a strong second-place finish, while **House Bonum** took third place, leaving their mark with commendable performances.

During the ceremony, certificates and prize money were awarded to the winners, celebrating their hard work and dedication. The event was filled with cheers and laughter as students reflected on the experiences that defined the week—whether in philosophical discussions, literary showcases, or competitive sports.

As the 20th Foundation Anniversary came to a close, the celebration left a lasting impression on the Rogationist community. SPOTLIGHT | Verum and Bonum Reign Supreme in Day 4 of Rogationist Seminary College-Cebu Sports Fest Championship Games

The excitement of competition was at its highest on January 30,2025 as the Sports Fest of the Rogationist Seminary College-Cebu reached its climax in a hotly contested championship games showdown. The fourth day of the 20th Foundation Anniversary was charged with exciting moments as the cream of the crop of the three rival houses—Verum, Unum, and Bonum—fought for dominance in different sports.

Bonum became the undisputed champions in basketball and volleyball, solidifying their dominance on the court through remarkable teamwork and determination. Verum, on the other hand, left their mark on the field, winning the football championship through strategic maneuvers and tireless effort. The war of wits was equally intense, with Verum dominating chess, Scrabble, and table tennis, taking both the singles and doubles titles. Bonum, though, proved their linguistic skills by dominating the Word Factory event.

In esports, Verum showcased their virtual agility by winning the Mobile Legends tournament, showcasing quick reflexes and strategic implementation. Their prowess in intellectual and strategic games highlighted the house's versatility in both physical and mental endeavors.

As the Sports Fest ended, shouts of joy and sportsmanship rang out across the campus. The championship matches not only showcased the athletes' talent and grit but also embodied the sense of brotherhood, discipline, and perseverance that are hallmarks of the Rogationist family. The third day of the 20th Foundation Anniversary of Rogationist Seminary College-Cebu, on January 29, 2025 was the inauguration of the highly anticipated two-day Sports Fest, which gathered students, teachers, and personnel in a celebration of teamwork, discipline, and camaraderie. The event started with an inspiring message from guest speaker Mr. Wyndell A. Casquejo, who highlighted the crucial difference between a promise and a commitment to love what one does. His message challenged the participants not only to compete passionately but also to commit themselves fully to what they do, be it academics, sports, or personal development.

Following the opening remarks, the students of the three competing houses—Verum, Unum, and Bonum—along with the Banwag Student Body Organization, which serves as the student government, united in a vibrant common dance presentation. The afternoon of Day 2 of the Rogationist Seminary College-Cebu's 20th Foundation Anniversary celebration witnessed a lively continuation of the Philosophical Symposium 2025 in parallel sessions. Young philosophers from the college shared interesting research, demonstrating their intellectual insight and creativity.

Three stimulating issues topped the concurrent symposiums:
• "Alan Moore's Batman: The Killing Joke from the Point of View of Albert Camus' Concept of Revolt"
Presented by Seminarian Vince Darwin Gabona, the discussion explored the philosophical underpinnings of Camus’ concept of rebellion as reflected in the moral dilemmas and existential themes within Moore’s graphic novel.
• "The Role of Social Media in the Evangelization of the Catholic Church in the Light of Herbert Marcuse's Philosophy of Technology"
Seminarian Francis Xavier Herrera examined the double-edged sword of social media, considering how Marcuse's critical theory of technology provides insights into its potential for evangelization while confronting its challenges.
• "The Sustainable Development Goals in the Philippines in the Light of Immanuel Kant's Doctrine of Right: An Evaluative Analysis"

The main symposium featured a compelling lecture by renowned professor Dr. Alexis Deodato Itao, titled “The Untenability of Divorce According to St. Thomas Aquinas: Implications for Filipino Catholics.” Dr. Itao eloquently expounded on Aquinas’ philosophical and theological perspective, emphasizing the sacramentality and indissolubility of marriage and its enduring relevance for Filipino Catholic families.

The Rogationist Seminary College-Cebu celebrated the first day of its 20th Foundation Anniversary with the theme, "Educating the Mind and Heart: 20 Years Journeying in Hope (2005–2025)" on January 27, 2025. The day commenced with a solemn Holy Mass, introducing a contemplative and festive atmosphere into the milestone celebration.

After the Eucharistic celebration, the three houses of the college—Verum, Unum, and Bonum—vigorously competed in the eagerly awaited LitMus (Literary-Musical) events, demonstrating their skills and fellowship.
The events had a range of categories:
• Speech Oration
• "Balak" Poetry Reading
• Live Band Performances
• Choral Reading
• Reading of Philosophical Articles

The events promoted the creativity, intellectual depth, and aesthetic talents of the students as well as a sense of camaraderie and friendly competition between the houses.

HIGHLIGHT| Rogationist Seminary College-Cebu Begins 20th Foundation Anniversary

The Rogationist Seminary College-Cebu marked the first day of its 20th Foundation Anniversary with the theme, "Educating the Mind and Heart: 20 Years Journeying in Hope (2005–2025)" on January 27, 2025. The milestone began with a serious Holy Mass at 8:30 AM, presided by Fr. Breynard Peji, RCJ, and concelebrated by other Rogationist fathers and two Piarist fathers.

The Eucharistic celebration was witnessed by Rogationist students, teachers, and employees, who came together to commemorate two decades of the institution's unrelenting dedication to integral education and spiritual development.

In his sermon, Fr. Peji challenged the congregation to a deeper meaning with a powerful message: "Elevate your mind beyond reason…" urging the community to assume intellectual and spiritual transcendence on their path of learning and faith.
The festivities continue through the week with several activities designed to celebrate the college's 20 years of service to the mind and heart.
