The School of Education of the University of San Jose-Recoletos completed its collaboration with the Teacher Education Council (TEC) assessors during the field visit on May 21-22, 2026, in connection with the School's reapplication to be designated as a Center of Excellence in Teacher Education once again. The field visit served as an important venue for the School to present documentary evidence, institutional practices, instructional delivery, support services, facilities, research and extension engagements, and stakeholder experiences that demonstrate its continuing commitment to excellence in teacher education. The TEC team was composed of: Mr. Tyrone Robert C. Garcia, Ms. Jacqui Lou G. Cagna-an, Dr. Rosemarie D. Sabado, and Dr. Jovelyn G. Delosa.
The visit commenced on Day 1 with the formal welcoming of the TEC team, with an intermission number provided by select members of the Bachelor of Physical Education (BPED) Jaguars students. Immediately after, the assembly and team huddle of the TEC Field Visit Team commenced from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m. at the Office for Education for Sustainable Development at the Basak Campus. This was followed by the opening program at 8:30 a.m. at the Basak Audio-Visual Room (AVR), where key administrators, including institutional leaders, academic heads, deans, program heads, and student support office heads, participated in the formal introduction and coordination of the visit. This opening activity established the proper protocol, confirmed the schedule of activities, and allowed the TEC Team to present its message and expectations for the evaluation process.
After the opening program, the assessors proceeded with the study of document exhibits for the rest of the morning at the Conference Room of the St. Ezekiel Moreno Building. The School of Education prepared and organized the necessary physical documents, records, and means of verification, particularly those that required on-site review and validation. This part of the visit allowed the assessors to examine relevant evidence supporting the School's claims and accomplishments in relation to its application for Center of Excellence status.
In the afternoon, the TEC assessors conducted classroom observations from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. SED facilitated the observation of selected classes to demonstrate actual instructional practices, curriculum implementation, and classroom engagement. Class schedules, syllabi, and related instructional materials were made available to support the validation of teaching-learning processes across different year levels and subject areas. This was followed by the site visit to campus facilities from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., during which relevant laboratories, libraries, learning centers, and other institutional facilities were inspected to determine their adequacy, accessibility, and utilization in support of teacher education programs.
Beginning at 4:00 p.m., separate meetings were conducted with administrators and faculty members. The meeting with administrators took place at the Senior High School Conference Room and focused on governance structures, academic management, and program implementation. Meanwhile, the meeting with faculty members was held at Room 402 of the St. Ezekiel Moreno Building, where all faculty representatives participated in discussions on teaching practices, academic policies, and faculty involvement in program delivery and development. These parallel sessions provided the assessors with opportunities to validate institutional leadership, faculty engagement, and SED's mechanisms for sustaining program quality.
On Day 2, the field visit continued with meetings involving key academic support and student services personnel. Beginning at 8:00 a.m., the assessors met with library, research, and study facilities personnel at the Senior High Library Discussion Room to validate the availability, accessibility, and utilization of learning resources, research support, and academic facilities. Simultaneously, a meeting with student services personnel was held at the SHS Conference Room to examine the adequacy and effectiveness of student support services, including guidance, registrar, scholarship, health, student affairs, and related offices.
The TEC assessors also met with selected students from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. at the AVR. This forum allowed students from different year levels and undergraduate programs to share their learning experiences, academic support received, and perceptions of institutional services. Their participation provided valuable perspectives on the quality of student formation and the responsiveness of the School of Education to learner needs.
From 10:15 to 11:00 a.m., the assessors held meetings with alumni and with extension heads and partners. The meeting with alumni at the SHS Conference Room focused on graduate outcomes and employability, while the meeting with extension heads and partners at the SHS Library Discussion Room highlighted the implementation, impact, and sustainability of extension and community engagement initiatives. These sessions emphasized SEDโs contribution not only to teacher preparation but also to graduate success, community partnership, and social responsibility.
After the stakeholder meetings, the TEC Field Visit Team conducted its internal deliberation and report writing from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the SHS/SED Library Discussion Room. This activity was exclusive to the TEC Field Visit Team and allowed the assessors to consolidate their observations, findings, and evaluation notes based on the documentary review, interviews, observations, and facility inspections conducted throughout the two-day visit.
The field visit formally concluded with the Closing Program from 2:00 to 2:30 p.m. at the AVR. Key administrators participated in the activity, marking the formal conclusion of the visit and acknowledging the collective efforts of all individuals and offices involved in the process. The closing activity provided an opportunity to express appreciation for the assessors' work and for the coordinated participation of the University community.
Overall, the School of Education's handling of the TEC field visit reflected careful preparation, institutional coordination, and strong collaboration among administrators, faculty, staff, students, alumni, support personnel, and external partners. Through the orderly implementation of the scheduled activities, SED was able to present evidence of its academic practices, governance mechanisms, support services, facilities, research culture, extension initiatives, and stakeholder outcomes in relation to its reapplication as a Center of Excellence in Teacher Education.
The School of Education extends its sincere gratitude to the assessors from the Teacher Education Council for their time, expertise, and professional guidance throughout the field visit. We also express our deepest appreciation to the administrators of the University of San Jose-Recoletos, as well as to the faculty and staff of the School of Education, whose cooperation and commitment contributed to the successful conduct of the visit. With renewed dedication, the School of Education will continue its commitment to provide quality education for current and future Josenian Educators.
