St. Michael's Play Garden

ages children to live and eat healthy, but also to learn how to care for Mother Earth. As a Preschool Garden Center, we nurture children as we would the seeds we plant. Founded by Grace Ferreros in July 2011, St. Michael's Play Garden Pre-school was located in Kasambagan, Cebu City. The location has since closed, but St. Michael's Play Garden continues its programs through After-school Nature CAMPS (Crafts, Art, Music, Play, Story), Art and Play Therapy workshops, Storytelling workshops, and Edible Gardening in Schools. Michael's Play Garden works closely with other Waldorf experts both internationally and in the Philippines. About Grace Cabaero Ferreros

Grace was first certified as a Waldorf teacher back in 2001 by the International Waldorf Kindergarten Association of Stuttgart, Germany and the Rudolf Steiner Education in the Philippines (RStEP). She has both taught, and been involved with, the Waldorf method for over 20 years. Grace herself currently trains and consults for other teachers in the Visayas and Mindanao in the Waldorf method. She is currently writing Cebuano Storybooks and a book on Teaching Mother Tongue for Grade One integrating creative ideas and activities based on the Steiner pedagogy. in Education (2005)

At St. Michael’s Play Garden, we strongly believe that children learn best when the learning process is enjoyable. Our programs ensure the child learns through an integration of activities and approaches, both indoors and outdoors. A basic tenet of our programs is that PLAY is the WORK of a young child. Constructive play is a deeply serious business for children; it is how the child learns to make sense of the world. Another guiding principle in all our programs is the vital importance of encouraging the development of a child’s imagination and creativity. Albert Einstein once said, “Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.”

Creativity, imagination, curiosity, a sense of self-worth, and a respect for others and the greater community: all these form the bedrock of an education at St. Michael’s Play Garden. By establishing this basic foundation in a child’s life, he or she will develop a strong desire to learn. The act of learning becomes fun and meaningful for all involved.
