The CNUโCollege of Nursing, in collaboration with the CNUโNightingale Student Council, hosted an alumna talk featuring Ms. Maureen Husted, BSN, RN, a proud alumna of the College of Nursing, Class of 1996.
Held on August 3, 2026, the talk highlighted the significant changes in the nursing profession throughout Ms. Hustedโs 30-year journeyโfrom being a nursing student to becoming a practicing nurse in Michigan, USA.
She also introduced the PAUSE Methodโข, which emphasizes the importance of prioritizing oneโs own well-being while caring for others. Drawing from her experiences as a bedside nurse, Ms. Husted shared stories and lessons that have shaped her practice and perspective as a nurse.
Through her stories, she reminded the Nightingales that nursing is not only about caring for others, but also about caring for oneself along the way.

๐ธ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ | ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐: ๐๐ ๐๐๐ฅ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐
New beginnings, familiar dreams, and renewed hope marked the Grand Balik Eskwela 2026 of the CNUโCollege of Nursing.
The day began with the student orientation led by the College faculty, where students were introduced to the nature of the nursing program, as well as the Collegeโs rules, policies, and expectations. This was followed by the subject orientation per level conducted by their respective subject coordinators.
The excitement continued throughout the afternoon as the College of Nursing organizations formally welcomed the Nightingales. The program opened with batch chants from Levels 1 to 4, filling the hall with energy and school spirit. Students were then inspired by Ms. Maureen Husted, BSN, RN, who shared valuable lessons from her three decades of nursing experience and introduced the PAUSE Methodโข.
As part of the program, Hon. Vince Joseph Cartagenas, CNUโNSC Governor, introduced the different College organizations and their officers. Meanwhile, Hon. Isabel Rain Ivory Piedad, CNUโNSC Vice Governor Internal, presented the Councilโs Accomplishment Report, highlighting initiatives and milestones that have contributed to the growth of the College community. Hon. Maxene Cassandra Panganiban also delivered the Treasurerโs Report, reaffirming the Councilโs commitment to transparency and accountability.
Games and interactive activities kept the energy alive as representatives from each level participated and competed. The crowd also enjoyed spontaneous dance performances, creating moments of laughter, excitement, and camaraderie among students.
The celebration concluded with one of the Collegeโs most cherished traditionsโwelcoming the freshmen with green cupcakes, symbolizing their official arrival into the Nightingale family.
Throughout the day, the CNUโNightingale Student Council, The Viewpoint, and the College of Nursing Tech Team showcased their respective booths featuring merchandise, services, photobooths, and organizational initiatives. These booths also served as avenues for students to learn more about the organizations as the recruitment period continues.
As another academic year takes flight, the College of Nursing warmly welcomes every Nightingaleโespecially the newest members of its ever-growing family. Through warm smiles, loud cheers, and hopeful hearts, we are reminded that despite every challenge we have faced, we are still here, moving forward together.
We made it. We continue to make it.
