Happiest Birthday to Colin Hyakutake Watkin-sensei. We thank you for being a constant support to Cebu Kendo Club and for lending your guidance as we go through our journey in kendo. We hope you enjoyed your special day, and we wish you more healthy years to come!! 🥳🎉🎂

A few weeks ago, members of Cebu Kendo Club spent a weekend together in the mountains of Cebu to commemorate the death anniversary of our late Sensei, Isagani Batayola.

The weekend was filled with good conversations, shared meals, stories, and endless laughter 😂. His guidance continues to shape who we are, both inside and outside the dojo.

One thing he taught us was to always aim for improvement—whether in technique, form, or mind. We constantly remind ourselves that we are works in progress. We may never reach perfection, but we strive to grow, step by step.

Thank you to everyone who joined and helped make the gathering meaningful. May we continue to honor his memory by carrying his teachings forward.

We're happy to share some highlights from a few weeks ago, when our members Jay Abordo-san, Fin Villa-Abrille-chan, and Kotaro-san had the chance to train abroad and represent Cebu Kendo Club.

Jay-san joined keiko with the Thai-Japan Kendo Club ชมรมเคนโด ไทย-ญี่ปุ่น and Thailand Kendo Club ชมรมเคนโด้ไทย in Bangkok 🇹🇭, while Fin-chan and Kotaro-san trained at the historic Butokuden in Kyoto under the guidance of Takahashi Sensei. 🇯🇵

To the sensei and members of these dojos, thank you for opening your doors and welcoming our members so warmly. Your generosity, hospitality, and willingness to share your knowledge embody the spirit of kendo and made these experiences truly memorable.

Maraming salamat and arigatou gozaimash*ta. We hope to meet again in keiko someday!
