On the Use of AI-Generated Material in a Recent Election Publication
The Student Council acknowledges the concerns raised regarding the use of AI-generated content in a recent publication related to the ongoing student elections.
We would like to clarify that official election publication materials are prepared and released through the COMELEC as part of its administration of the student elections and are not produced by the incumbent Student Council officers. We make this clarification not to deflect responsibility or criticism, but to ensure that the roles of the Student Council and the COMELEC are properly understood.
At the same time, we recognize the broader and valid conversation surrounding the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence in school-related publications. As incumbent SC officers, we do not want to leave our term with the impression that we used AI simply as an easy way to produce publication materials. We value the creativity, effort, and authenticity that students bring to our communications and initiatives. We appreciate those who raised their concerns. Constructive criticism helps strengthen transparency and accountability within our student institutions.
Furthermore, as the student leaders, we will continue to encourage responsible communication and transparency while respecting the independence and responsibilities of the COMELEC in the conduct of the elections.
