ELECTIONS UPDATE 🚨👀

SOLARES and COMELEC have decided to open nominations for the next batch of officers for A.Y. 2026-2027. All students currently enrolled in the Department of Communication Linguistics and Literature are qualified to make ONE NOMINATION EACH POSITION. Multiple positions can be nominated for by filling up the form again.

The polls close in 24 hours!

Nominees will be emailed and interviewed privately afterwards and will be revealed this coming General Assembly on Monday, May 25.

Good Day!

We hope everyone's finals have been good. The SOLARES constitution outlines the provisions and procedures of an election of officers every second semester of the academic year. This was done to respect the autonomy and liberty of the student body of the Department of Communications Linguistics and Literature in contributing to the future of our co-curricular organization.

SOLARES and its COMELEC have come to the decision to temporarily suspend the planned elections this May 21. This is due to the low turnout of candidates resulting in key positions being unapplied for, most importantly of them being the president and vice president. This has resulted in circumstances that fall short for a healthy democratic election. Accordingly, SOLARES and COMELEC have decided to internally discuss what the next steps regarding succession would be for the organization.

This is far from the ideal situation as we in SOLARES all understand the great value of democracy, but we assure the students of DCLL that whatever decision us officers land on will be a comprehensive and beneficial one for the future of our department. Thank you kindly for your understanding.
