UP Cebu GAD holds as its fundamental mandate the mainstreaming of gender in teaching, research, and public service. It takes a leading role in engendering the curriculum, publication, and creative work in the University, and in helping transform policy frameworks and programs of government agencies, communities, and institutions to become gender responsive and to promote the rights of women and other marginalized sectors.

The UP Cebu Gender and Development Office joins the observance of the 2026 National Anti-Trafficking in Persons Awareness Month.
Anchored on the theme, โIisang Nasyon, Iisang Aksyon: Tapusin ang Human Trafficking Ngayon!โ, we recognize trafficking as a form of structural violence sustained by poverty, inequality, displacement, gender-based violence, and the commodification of human life.
To end trafficking is not only to stop exploitation, but to build a society where survivors are protected, supported, and empowered to reclaim their dignity, agency, and future.

The struggle for q***r liberation did not begin with corporate campaigns or sanitised paradesโit has always begun in resistance.
Pride was born from struggle, and to this day, it remains inseparable from the broader struggle for the genuine liberation of all oppressed sectors of society.
It is within these exact conditions that we honor the legacy of student leaders and activists like Dee โKa Dahliaโ Supelanas, who reminded us that the liberation of one sector cannot be achieved while the majority remains exploited and oppressed under a patriarchal system.
As we launch Tagubtub: Pride Month 2026, we challenge the community to see Pride not only as a celebration of identity, but as an unyielding commitment to collective mass struggle.
Let us leave behind a trail of dahlias in defiance.

This Pride Month, the UP Cebu Gender and Development Office stands in solidarity with ongoing struggles for diversity, inclusion, equality, and love in all its forms.
Because like the rainbow, we recognize the collective and multisectoral nature of the movement toward a freer, more liberating society.
Because like the rainbow, we insist on being visible and united amid a deeply repressive political climate.
