JUBILEE YEAR HOLY DOOR SEALED ON CHRISTMAS NIGHT

The Holy Door of the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome was officially closed on Christmas night, marking the end of the Jubilee Year. Cardinal Archpriest Rolandas Makrickas led the solemn ceremony, accompanied by the tolling of the historic 'Sperduta' bell, a traditional signal for pilgrims.

In his message, Cardinal Makrickas said, "The heart of the Risen One, an inexhaustible source of new life, remains always open to those who hope in Him," affirming God's enduring grace.

The Jubilee Year of Hope, opened by Pope Francis on December 24, 2024, will conclude on January 6, 2026. Other Holy Doors in Rome will close on:
- St. John Lateran Basilica: December 27
- St. Paul Outside the Walls Basilica: December 28
- St. Peter's Basilica: January 6, 2026
