MA THESIS ORAL DEFENSE | Applied Linguistics

The Department of Communications, Linguistics, and Literature announces the Oral Examination of Jose Antonio "Jao" C. Dasig Jr., candidate for the degree of Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics.

The candidate will defend his Master’s Thesis entitled, “Politicizing Gender: A Critical Discourse Analysis of Gender-Oriented Movements,” on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 12:00 Noon. The examination will be held in Room 15 of the Philip van Engelen Building, University of San Carlos – Talamban Campus.

CESAFI ORATION CONTEST | Event Highlights

The University of San Carlos, through the Department of Communications, Linguistics, and Literature, successfully hosted the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) Oration Contest last February 27, 2026 at the Fr. Albert van Gansewinkel Hall, USC Downtown Campus, bringing together talented student orators from participating institutions.

True to the Department’s commitment to cultivating critical thinking and effective communication, the competition featured both Secondary (9:00 AM–12:00 PM) and Tertiary (1:30–4:00 PM) categories, where participants showcased thoughtful argumentation, persuasive delivery, and mastery of public speaking.
