Come back to me with all your heart
Don't let fear keep us apart
Trees do bend though straight and tall
So must we to others' call
Long have I waited for
Your coming home to me
And living deeply our new life
The wilderness will lead you
To the place where I will speak
Integrity and justice
With tenderness
You shall know.
Long have I waited for
Your coming home to me
And living deeply our new life
Long have I waited for
Your coming home to me
And living deeply our new life

04 Offertory - All That We Have
Sample: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k16C-ukG-KI
Minus One: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HvT-PBxLzc
All that we have and all that we offer
Comes from a heart both frightened and free.
Take what we bring now and give what we need.
All done in His name.
Some would rely on their power,
Others put trust in their gold.
Some have only their Savior,
Whose faithfulness never grows old.
All that we have and all that we offer
Comes from a heart both frightened and free.
Take what we bring now and give what we need.
All done in His name.
Sometimes the road may be lonesome,
Often we may lose our way;
Take courage and always remember
Love isn't just for a day.
All that we have and all that we offer
Comes from a heart both frightened and free.
Take what we bring now and give what we need.
All done in His name.
Sometimes when troubles are many,
Life can seem empty, it's true,
But look at the life of the Master,
Who lovingly suffered for you.
All that we have and all that we offer
Comes from a heart both frightened and free.
Take what we bring now and give what we need.
All done in His name.

I will lift you from all your fear

Sample: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JiWgKmP_vZA
Minus One: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iR9ZcR4D9HE
How lovely is your dwelling place,
O Lord mighty God, Lord of all
How lovely is your dwelling place,
O Lord mighty God, Lord of all
Even the lowly sparrow finds a home for her brood
And the swallow a nest for herself
Where she may lay her young
In your altars my king and my God
How lovely is your dwelling place,
O Lord mighty God, Lord of all
Blessed are they whose dwelling
Is Your own Lord of peace
Blest are they refreshed by springs and by rain
When dryness daunts and scathes
Behold my shield
My king and my God!
How lovely is your dwelling place,
O Lord mighty God, Lord of all
I would forsake a thousand
Other days anywhere
If I could spend one day in Your
Courts belong to you alone
My strength are You alone
My glory, my king and my God!
How lovely is your dwelling place,
O Lord mighty God, Lord of all

Remembering Cardinal Vidal on his birthday...

Memorial of St. Paul Miki and Companions, Martyrs
First Reading:1 Kgs 8:22 – 23, 27 – 30
Responsorial Psalm: Ps 84:3, 4, 5 and 10, 11
Gospel: Mk 7:1 – 13
When the Pharisees with some scribes who had come from Jerusalem
gathered around Jesus,
they observed that some of his disciples ate their meals
with unclean, that is, unwashed, hands.
(For the Pharisees and, in fact, all Jews,
do not eat without carefully washing their hands,
keeping the tradition of the elders.
And on coming from the marketplace
they do not eat without purifying themselves.
And there are many other things that they have traditionally observed,
the purification of cups and jugs and kettles and beds.)
So the Pharisees and scribes questioned him,
"Why do your disciples not follow the tradition of the elders
but instead eat a meal with unclean hands?"
He responded,
"Well did Isaiah prophesy about you hypocrites,
as it is written:
This people honors me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me;
In vain do they worship me,
teaching as doctrines human precepts.
You disregard God's commandment but cling to human tradition."
He went on to say,
"How well you have set aside the commandment of God
in order to uphold your tradition!
For Moses said,
Honor your father and your mother,
and Whoever curses father or mother shall die.
Yet you say,
'If someone says to father or mother,
"Any support you might have had from me is qorban"'
(meaning, dedicated to God),
you allow him to do nothing more for his father or mother.
You nullify the word of God
in favor of your tradition that you have handed on.
And you do many such things."

Tuesday of the Fifth Week in Ordinary Time
God our Father,
source of strength for all your saints,
you led Paul Miki and his companions
through the suffering of the cross
to the joy of eternal life.
May their prayers give us the courage
to be loyal until death in professing our faith.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.
— Amen.

FEAST OF THE PRESENTATION OF THE LORD | “Candlemass”
https://www.facebook.com/ASPCCebu/posts/pfbid0UgUBA2x7SiPHrsr2HyLikvXeWmQwaAwr5thB25F8W8eW2wrXJrposYdP3eJvJNS9l
FEAST OF THE PRESENTATION OF THE LORD | “Candlemass” is also a traditional name given to today’s feast because as early as the fifth century, the custom of celebrating this feast with lighted candles had developed. The lit candles symbolized Simeon’s prophecy that Jesus would be “a light for revelation to the Gentiles.” Lastly, this Feast has been referred to as the “Feast of the Holy Encounter” because God, in the Person of Jesus, encountered Simeon and Anna in the Temple.
Today’s feast is celebrated in our Church forty days after Christmas, marking the day that Mary and Joseph would have brought Jesus into the Temple. Though Mary was pure and free from sin from the moment of her conception, and though the Son of God did not need to be redeemed, Mary and Joseph fulfilled these ritual obligations.
At the heart of this celebration is the encounter of Simeon and Anna with the Christ Child in the Temple. It is in that holy encounter that Jesus’ divinity is manifested by a human prophet for the first time. At His birth, the angels proclaimed His divinity to the shepherds, but in the Temple, Simeon was the first to understand and proclaim Jesus as the Savior of the World. He also prophesied that this salvation would be accomplished by a sword of sorrow that would pierce the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Anna, a prophetess, also came forward and “gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were awaiting the redemption of Jerusalem” (Luke 2:38). Thus, these ritual acts were also a moment in which Jesus’ divine mission was made manifest to the world.
As we celebrate Mary’s ritual purification and Jesus’ ritual redemption, we should see them as acts in which we are called to participate. First, each of us is unworthy of entering the true Temple of the Lord in Heaven. Yet we are invited to enter that Temple in union with Mary, our Blessed Mother. It was her consent to the will of God that opened the door of God’s grace to us all, enabling us to spiritually become Jesus’ “mother” by allowing Him to be born in our hearts by grace. With her, we are now able to appear before God, purified and holy in His sight.
We must also see Saint Joseph redeeming us as he presented Jesus in the Temple. In offering Christ Jesus to the priest to offer Him to the Father, Saint Joseph also presents all who strive to live in union with Jesus. The hope is that, like Simeon and Anna, others will see God alive within us and experience the Savior of the World through us.
Ponder, today, your soul being the new temple of the Lord, and acknowledge your need to be purified and offered to the Father in Heaven. As Christ continues to enter into the temple of your soul, pray that He will shine forth for others to see so that, like Simeon and Anna, they will encounter our Lord within you.

SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST HOLY NAME OF JESUS | Here in Cebu, this feast is elevated into a Solemnity because it is the Titular of the Archdiocese.
History tells us that upon the finding of the image of the Santo Niño, Miguel Lopez de Legazpi named Cebu as "Villa del Santísimo Nombre de Jesús" but was decreed only after Philippine II of Spain had ordered him to take formal possession of the islands. Sometime in 1594, Cebu was named "Ciudad del Santísimo Nombre de Jesús.
03/01/2024
We celebrate today the Solemnity of the Most Holy Name of Jesus since it is the titular of the Archdiocese of Cebu.
When Miguel Lopez de Legazpi arrived in Cebu in 1571, he named the place “Villa del Santisimo Nombre de Jesus” (Village of the Most Holy Name of Jesus). It retained this name after its elevation as a Diocese up to the present moment as an Archdiocese.
Today’s Solemnity reminds us an Archdiocese to be true to our name: to proclaim the love of Christ anywhere we go. Let us pray for our Archdiocese that we may always live in Synodality and that we may always put our best interest in serving the Church and one another for the greater glory of God.
