Bullying in Korea carries college-admissions repercussions.

🇰🇷 South Korea’s Big Education Shift:
Starting 2026, any history of school bullying will directly affect university admissions — even a single disciplinary record can mean automatic rejection.

For years, many believed that “kids are just kids” — and that the Juvenile Act would protect young offenders. Countless students who bullied classmates still entered top universities, built successful careers, even became celebrities. Meanwhile, victims carried trauma that no law protected them from.

In recent years, the careers of many public figures collapsed when former classmates exposed their bullying past:
– Actor Ji Soo dropped from his drama
– Idol Soojin (ex-(G)I-DLE) left her group
– Actor Kim Dong-hee faced heavy backlash
– Volleyball stars Lee Jae-yeong & Lee Da-yeong were removed from the national team

And it wasn’t just stars — even the son of a high-ranking official faced national outrage when his bullying case resurfaced despite entering a top university.

🔥 As a result, South Korea introduced its strictest education policy ever.

Starting from 2026, every university must review school bullying records during all forms of admission — academic, talent-based, essays, CSAT (수능), everything.

Just one incident can end a student’s chances:
✔️ Level 1 (apology letter) → Many universities subtract up to 100 points
✔️ Level 2+ → Almost automatic rejection

In the most recent cycle:
👉 75% of students with bullying history were rejected
👉 At SNU & Yonsei → 100% were rejected

This marks a turning point:
School behavior is no longer a “private matter.” It’s part of your future.

Koreans say:
✨ “실력만 좋으면 뭐해, 사람이 돼야지.”
(What’s the point of talent if you’re not a decent human being?)

Today, Korean schools are teaching something more important than grades — responsibility, empathy, and integrity.

Because no one wants their future at 25 to be destroyed by what they did at 15.

This is a powerful reminder for the next generation: your behavior today shapes your future tomorrow.
