Flu season is here.
Around 75,000 cases of Influenza-like Illnesses (ILI) have been reported in the Philippines so far this year — slightly fewer than last year and still within the usual flu trend.
Most cases are mild and go away with rest and care, but flu can be more serious for young children, older people, and those with chronic conditions or weak immunity.
Simple preventive habits help reduce the spread of illness:
✅Get the flu shot
✅Cover coughs & sneezes with a bent elbow or a tissue; dispose of used tissue in a closed bin
✅Wash hands regularly
✅Stay home if you feel sick
✅Open windows when possible, to encourage airflow
✅Avoid touching eyes, nose & mouth
✅Avoid close contact with a sick person
✅If you’re experiencing mild flu symptoms & need to leave home, wear a mask
Help protect yourself & loved ones.

Based on the advisory of the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) Central Visayas, the Cebu City Government informs the public of current air quality conditions following the unrest of Kanlaon Volcano.
Monitoring data shows that PM10 and PM2.5 levels in Toledo City remain within guideline values. However, in parts of Metro Cebu, particularly near Talisay City, PM2.5 levels have exceeded recommended limits as of April 17, 2026, placing air quality in the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups category.
The public is advised to limit outdoor activities and wear N95 masks when going outside, especially for children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory conditions.
The Cebu City Government continues to monitor the situation in coordination with EMB Central Visayas.
