August 21 marks Ninoy Aquino Day, a time to remember the life, courage, and sacrifice of former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. His dedication to freedom and democracy reminds us that meaningful change begins with people who are willing to stand for what is right.

As future educators, we carry an important responsibility—not only to teach lessons, but also to nurture informed, responsible, and courageous young minds. By learning from our history, we help preserve the values of freedom, democracy, and responsibility for generations to come.

May Ninoy’s legacy inspire us, as future educators, to use education as a powerful tool for truth, awareness, and positive change. Let us teach with purpose, lead with courage, and help build a better Philippines.

The College of Education proudly welcomes our newest members as we gather for the COED General Orientation for Freshmen on August 14, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This orientation serves as an opportunity to get to know our college, understand its guidelines and expectations, meet fellow future educators, and take the first steps toward an exciting academic journey.

To our dear freshmen, may this new chapter be filled with meaningful learning, growth, friendships, and unforgettable experiences. May you continue to learn with purpose, grow with confidence, and prepare yourselves to become educators who inspire and make a difference.

The College of Education (COED) of the University of the Visayas–Dalaguete Campus continues to promote the health and well-being of its students as COED freshmen participated in a comprehensive dental check-up on August 12, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Campus Clinic.

The dental check-up was conducted by Dr. Anecita Osorio, providing students with professional dental screenings, personalized oral health recommendations, and preventive education. The initiative aimed to help freshmen develop proper oral health practices and encourage them to prioritize their well-being throughout their academic journey.

The College of Education extends its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Anecita Osorio and the School Dental Service Team for their commitment and service in making this health initiative possible. Their efforts contribute to creating a healthier and more supportive learning environment for the COED Family.

At COED, we believe that healthy students are empowered learners. By promoting health and wellness alongside academic development, the College continues to nurture future educators who are prepared not only to teach but also to inspire and serve their communities.

This activity is aligned with UN SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being, supporting the promotion of preventive healthcare and the overall well-being of students.

𝐂𝐎𝐄𝐃 𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐒 𝐀𝐓 𝐏𝐀𝐍𝐀𝐆𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐁𝐀𝐘𝐀 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

The College of Education (COED) of the University of the Visayas–Dalaguete Campus proudly participated in Panagtimbaya 2026 on August 10, 2026, joining the University community in welcoming the new academic year through activities that showcased unity, talent, camaraderie, and the vibrant Visayanian spirit.

Throughout the celebration, COED students, faculty, and officers actively took part in various activities, including the Department Presentations, Freshmen Yell Competition, student organization activities, talent showcases, and other interactive events.

Representing COED in the Department Presentations were Rodelyn Caingles of BEED 3 and Aliyah Jeric Cruz of BEED 4, who showcased their talents through a singing performance, highlighting the creativity and confidence of the College’s future educators.

COED also celebrated a major achievement in the Mr. and Ms. Fresh Face 2026, with Aira Asenjo Heredia and Mike Bien Baldezamo being named Grand Winners. Their achievement brought pride to the College as they confidently represented the future educators of COED.

Adding to the celebration, the COED Freshmen secured 1st Place in the Freshmen Yell Competition, demonstrating teamwork, creativity, discipline, and school spirit. Their victory reflected the strong sense of unity and cooperation among the COED Family.

The celebration culminated in the Unity Dance and Hand-Waving Ceremony, where the COED Family joined the University community in celebrating new beginnings, shared aspirations, and a renewed commitment to learning and service.

Panagtimbaya 2026 highlighted COED’s commitment to developing future educators who are not only academically prepared, but also confident, collaborative, inclusive, and actively engaged in their community.

The College of Education of the University of the Visayas–Dalaguete Campus successfully conducted its Departmental Orientation on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Room 210, bringing together students from all year levels to officially welcome the new academic year.

The program commenced with the registration of students, followed by the opening prayer, the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, and the opening remarks delivered by Dr. Priscila S. Mansueto, Dean of the College of Education. A roll call of students per year level and an energizer activity facilitated by the COED Officers set an engaging and welcoming atmosphere for the participants.

Faculty member Ms. Vaine P. Zambrano introduced the College of Education faculty and staff, while Program Coordinator Mrs. Angelica B. Redula discussed the department’s Vision, Mission, Core Values, Program Outcomes, academic policies, student responsibilities, grading and retention policies, student services, organizations, and the Calendar of Activities for Academic Year 2026–2027.

To encourage student participation, the COED Officers facilitated a trivia and icebreaker activity, followed by an open forum where students were given the opportunity to raise questions and seek clarifications regarding academic and departmental concerns.

The latter part of the orientation featured the presentation of the incumbent COED Officers and the election of departmental officers. Students actively participated in the nomination of candidates, election proper, counting of votes, and proclamation of winners, emphasizing the importance of student leadership and representation within the department.

The program concluded with an inspirational message from the newly elected Departmental President, followed by the closing remarks of Mr. Jayvie Bryle Camilo, Practicum Coordinator. The activity ended with a photo opportunity and the dismissal of participants, marking a meaningful start to another year of learning, leadership, and service.

The College of Education of the University of the Visayas–Dalaguete Campus conducted its Year Level Orientation on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, welcoming students as they officially begin the new academic year.

The orientation was held simultaneously in designated classrooms for each year level. First Year BEED and BSED-Math students gathered in Room 210 under the guidance of Ma’am Junalyn C. Bediña, while Second Year BEED students assembled in Room 103 with Ma’am Frincess Mae T. Bilar. Third Year BEED students attended their orientation in Room 209, facilitated by Ma’am Vaine P. Zambrano.

The activity provided students with important academic information, institutional policies, classroom expectations, and student responsibilities. It also served as an opportunity for advisers to orient students on the goals of the semester, encourage academic excellence, and strengthen their commitment as future educators.

Through the Year Level Orientation, the College of Education reaffirmed its dedication to preparing competent, responsible, and values-driven teachers by ensuring that every student begins the academic year informed, motivated, and ready to embrace new learning experiences.
