Cebu Eastern College (CEC) has been officially declared as a certified participant in the Education Service Contracting (ESC) Program, a partnership between the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC).
โ
โThe ESC program is a government initiative that provides financial assistance to deserving junior high school students enrolled in private schools, helping improve access to quality basic education.
โ
โThe certification was confirmed on April 23, 2026, following the schoolโs compliance with DepEd requirements and K to 12 standards. The ESC online monitoring activity was conducted earlier on March 27, 2026, with active virtual participation from CEC teachers, offices, and students.
โ
โBased on the final certification report, CEC achieved almost all the required documents. The next recertification visit is scheduled for SY 2029-2030.
โ
โCEC is encouraged to select grantees from Grade 6 graduates in public and private elementary schools, particularly those in need of financial assistance.

Cebu Eastern College (CEC) strengthened its reputation in the field of technology as its Information Technology students secured the championship title in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) Computer Quiz Bowl 2026, held on March 27 at the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) LRAC.
Second-year IT students Marc Jethro Avila and Bryan Solon showcased exceptional coding expertise and technical knowledge, rising above competing institutions in a competition that tested both analytical thinking and programming skills.
The event consisted of two rounds, the Quiz Proper and the Programming Challenge. During the Quiz Proper, the CEC representatives dominated the Easy category, earning Rank 1 with 12 points, and maintained their lead in the Average category with 51 points. In the Difficult category, they secured 71 points, placing Rank 2 and earning a spot in the final round.
Entering the Programming Challenge, the duo demonstrated strong command of coding and problem-solving, ultimately achieving a total score of 286 points. Their consistent performance throughout the competition led them to clinch the championship title.
The victory was made possible through the guidance of their coaches, Mr. Charlie Maquilan and Mr. Arnel Villanueva Jr., whose mentorship played a vital role in honing the teamโs skills. The team also received full support from their dean, Prof. Juvelyn G. Sato, who continues to promote excellence in the field of information technology.
Reflecting on the moment, Mr. Charlie Maquilan shared, โSeeing them hold their certificates and medals with full smiling faces really hits home. As a coach, there is no better feeling than watching your students realize they can be the absolute best.โ
The achievement not only highlights the capability of CECโs IT students in competitive programming but also reinforces the institutionโs commitment to developing future-ready professionals equipped with critical thinking and advanced technical skills in an increasingly digital world.
