𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐎𝐘 𝐀𝐐𝐔𝐈𝐍𝐎: 𝐀 𝐋𝐄𝐆𝐀𝐂𝐘 𝐎𝐅 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐀𝐆𝐄 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐃𝐄𝐌𝐎𝐂𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐘

Every 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟭, Filipinos commemorate 𝗡𝗶𝗻𝗼𝘆 𝗔𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗗𝗮𝘆 to honor the life and legacy of 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗼 “𝗡𝗶𝗻𝗼𝘆” 𝗔𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗝𝗿., a prominent figure in Philippine history and a symbol of the struggle for democracy.

Ninoy was a vocal critic of 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗙𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗼𝘀 𝗦𝗿.’𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗹𝗮𝘄 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗺𝗲. He was imprisoned for several years before eventually going into exile in the United States. On 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟭, 𝟭𝟵𝟴𝟯, he returned to the Philippines but was assassinated shortly after arriving at the 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗹𝗮 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁, which was later renamed 𝗡𝗶𝗻𝗼𝘆 𝗔𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 in his honor.

His assassination sparked widespread outrage and protests among Filipinos who opposed the Marcos regime. His death became a significant turning point in the growing movement for democratic reform, inspiring many Filipinos to stand together and call for freedom, justice, and accountable leadership.

This movement eventually culminated in the 𝟭𝟵𝟴𝟲 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, a historic peaceful uprising that led to the end of Marcos Sr.’s rule and the restoration of democratic institutions in the Philippines.

Ultimately, Ninoy Aquino Day represents more than the remembrance of one individual. It commemorates a period in Philippine history when countless Filipinos found the courage to stand for their beliefs and seek change through collective action.

Every August 21, we remember Ninoy Aquino and the values his legacy continues to represent: 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲, 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗺, 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆.

Somewhere beneath the silence, I still believe there could be an us again.
Where I stayed for us, hoping for another beginning.
I loved you in ways I never learned how to explain.
I keep longing for a love I once thought would be our ending.

Your voice echoes softly through my veins,
Knowing I was the last to hear your voice.
A quiet reminder of what still remains,
While someone else will hear it and call it home.

Was there ever a happy ending,
Or was I the only one pretending?
Was I the only one who stayed,
While your heart had slowly drifted away?
I kept holding on to what we knew,
Still chasing dreams that never came true.
And in the silence, I came to see,
That the one still waiting was only me.

I guess a farewell was the only option,
For a love that seemed to live forever.
Though my heart still searched for a reason,
To believe we could find our way together.

You left, but somehow, the love stayed.

On 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟳, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, the students of Pardo National High School gathered for the Third Monthly Mass of the School Year 2026–2027. The celebration brought together students, teachers, and school personnel in a moment of prayer, reflection, and thanksgiving.

The Holy Mass was celebrated by 𝗥𝗲𝘃. 𝗙𝗿. 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗼 𝗖𝘂𝗲𝘃𝗮, who delivered the homily and encouraged everyone to continue strengthening their faith and values. The gathering served as a reminder of the importance of keeping God at the center of daily life and staying united as one school community.

Throughout the celebration, students actively participated in the prayers, songs, and responses, creating a solemn and meaningful atmosphere. The monthly Mass also gave everyone a chance to pause from their academic responsibilities and reflect on the blessings they have received.

As the mass came to an end, students and teachers left with grateful hearts and renewed spirits. The celebration served as a meaningful reminder to continue the school year with faith, kindness, and hope while carrying the values learned into their everyday lives.

Every 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟲, the Province of Cebu celebrates its Founding Anniversary, also known as 𝗖𝗲𝗯𝘂 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝘆. It is a special occasion that honors Cebu's rich history, vibrant culture, and the many contributions of the people in the Philippines.

This holiday is observed under 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗰𝘁 𝗡𝗼. 𝟴𝟵𝟱𝟮, which declares August 6 a special non-working public holiday throughout the Province of Cebu, including its cities. It is also recognized under Republic Act No. 7698, which established the province's Charter Day.

As Cebu celebrates another year since its founding, the occasion reminds everyone of the province's resilience, unity, and lasting contributions to the country. It also brings families and communities together to take part in local celebrations, strengthen their sense of pride, and look forward to a future built on the same spirit that has guided Cebu for generations.

Breathing a sigh of relief, PNHS students wrapped up their 𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗺𝘀 today, bringing an intense week of reviewing and studying to a close.

Beyond simply completing the test, the experience reflected the students’ dedication, preparation, and effort in answering each question. As answer sheets were submitted and the tension eased, both teachers and students recognized not just the hard work invested, but also the positive and resilient mindset shown throughout the process.

With the assessment now behind them, the campus shifts its focus toward a well-deserved moment of rest and reflection—before the next academic challenge begins.

Elegance, confidence, and determination took center stage as aspiring models from across Cebu gathered for the 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗲𝗯𝘂 𝗨𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, transforming the runway into a celebration of beauty, grace, and perseverance. The prestigious pageant showcased not only remarkable talent but also the passion and dedication of young women pursuing their dreams in the world of fashion and modeling.

Emerging victorious was 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗹𝘆𝗻 𝗡𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 of Poblacion, Pardo, a 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝟵–𝗡𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 of 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗼 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹, who earned the 𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗲𝗯𝘂 𝗨𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲. With her poised runway walk, captivating stage presence, and unwavering confidence, she impressed the panel of judges and won the admiration of the audience, securing the coveted crown.

More than a beauty competition, the event highlighted the discipline, resilience, and hard work of every contestant. Each participant brought their own charm and confidence to the runway, creating an unforgettable evening filled with dazzling performances that reflected months of preparation and commitment.

The Campus Eye extends its heartfelt congratulations to 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗹𝘆𝗻 𝗡𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹, together with the first and second runners-up, the special award recipients, and all the finalists for their outstanding performances. Their achievements serve as an inspiration to aspiring models, proving that beauty shines brightest when matched with confidence, determination, and dedication.

Friend zoned, with a smile so kind,

Have you ever wondered why Nutrition Month is celebrated in July? It is by virtue of 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗡𝗼. 𝟰𝟵𝟭, signed in 1974 by Ferdinand Marcos, aimed at raising public awareness on the importance of proper nutrition and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Many Filipinos tend to consume more meat, often with only a small portion of vegetables on their plates. While meat is an important source of nutrients, excessive consumption over time may lead to health concerns such as heart disease, kidney problems, and other related risks.

On the other hand, a lack of vegetables in one’s diet can also have long-term effects on overall health. To prevent this, make it a habit to include more greens in your meals. If you’re not used to eating vegetables, start small—try incorporating them into soups, broths, or mixed dishes.

Let this July be a time to educate ourselves on maintaining a balanced diet and a healthier lifestyle.

As 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗹 once said, “𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒉𝒚 𝒄𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒛𝒆𝒏𝒔 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒚 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒚 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆.” Let us take this reminder to heart by making better food choices each day. Eating greens is not just a habit—it is a necessity for a stronger and healthier future.
