Feature Article | Labor Day 2026
The Hands That Build Dreams
By: Darshen
I used to think Labor Day was simply a day off from school. But this year, as I looked at my motherโs hands, I finally understood what the day truly means.
My mother works in a school. Every day, she wakes up early to open the office and help prepare everything for the day ahead. Her hands are rough and tired from years of hard work, yet despite her exhaustion, she still finds time to prepare meals and care for our family.
My mother works tirelessly to provide for our daily needs. The money she earns helps support our necessities and our education. Even when she feels tired or unwell, she continues to work because, for her, every task she does is more than just a job, it is her way of building a better future for us.
Often, we forget that the reason we are able to attend school and pursue our dreams is because someone is working hard behind the scenes. We sometimes complain about schoolwork, deadlines, and responsibilities, without realizing the sacrifices our parents make just to give us the opportunity to learn and succeed.
This Labor Day, I want to express my gratitude to my mother and to all parents and workers who dedicate their lives to their families. Labor Day is a celebration of their sacrifices, dedication, and love. Their hands may grow tired, but the impact of everything they do remains with us forever.
To me, my mother is more than just a hardworking parent. She is my hero. And for everything she has done, I will always be grateful.
To all workers across every field, you are the heartbeat of the nation!
