๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐: Cebu Tech's Taekwondoin Packs Gold Medal in SCUAA VII Regional Games
Proud Barilinhon and a Technologist, Ian Alfornon showcases his tactical kicks and exceptional talent after securing the championship bout against the powerhouse Negros Oriental State University (NORSU), 2-1, in SCUAA Men's Taekwondo Category at SM- Seaside.
After exhibiting his flashy 45- degree kicks in a series of fights, Alfornon sweeps his first Regional Taekwondo Competition and dominated his rivals in Feather Weight Division.
"Bansay jud ang kontra, na pressure jud ko samot nag sa NURSO, nagtoo jud ko ma mapilde ko pero nabawi ra tungod wako mohunong , maong naka daog ko (My opponent was good, the pressure was intense, I thought I'm going to lost but due to my perseverance, I manage to win)". Alfornon proudly stated.
Through quick footwork and overpowering blows, Alfornon enters the match with confidence. NORSU's prodigy, Gabriel Desales tried to keep his pace but unable to fight back, 5-4.
"Don't let your fear decide your future". A motivational quote that inspires Alfornon in every hardship he face during training.
Applying his training and preparations, Alfornon seize to end the match by forcing to hit a turning long kick but came short after Desales successfully connected a 45- degree kick, 6-9.
"When the final list for qualified athletes for SCUAA came, I jog two times a day, from Cagay Barili to Mantalongon Barili and I wish god will make a way for me" Alfornon added.
Under the shortness of breath in the crucial round of the match, Ian Alfornon eagerly rushed to gain the momentum , however Desales persistence led him to fight back but outsmarted in the last two seconds with a front kick and clinch combination, 9-7.
