📚✨ UP Cebu TTBDO Joins Intellectual Property Policy Training Workshop

The University of the Philippines Cebu – Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (UP Cebu TTBDO) participated in the Intellectual Property Policy Training Workshop held from July 29–31, 2026, at the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Regional Office VII.

Spearheaded by DOST Region VII, the three-day workshop gathered representatives from higher education institutions to strengthen institutional intellectual property policies and innovation management systems. The sessions covered key topics on intellectual property protection, technology transfer, commercialization, and policy development, helping institutions build stronger foundations for research and innovation.

UP Cebu TTBDO is grateful for the opportunity to take part in this meaningful learning experience and remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote intellectual property awareness and technology commercialization.

The UP Cebu Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (UP Cebu TTBDO) proudly congratulates our interns from ENGEES, France on successfully completing their internship with our office.

During their stay, they shared their knowledge and worked closely with our team on meaningful sustainability initiatives, including the development of the ARKA Farm and the ongoing permaculture plan for CCAD. Their ideas and dedication have made valuable contributions that will continue to support these projects.

The interns from Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) recently presented the outputs of their internship to UP Cebu TTBDO Director, Atty. Grace Marie Lopez. Each group showcased the projects and initiatives they developed throughout their internship, reflecting the knowledge, skills, and experiences they gained during their time with the office.

University of the Philippines Cebu Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (UP Cebu TTBDO) met with Mandaue City College (MCC) to discuss and explore potential partnerships that can further strengthen the local innovation ecosystem.

Representing UP Cebu TTBDO were Atty. Grace Marie Lopez, Director of UP Cebu TTBDO, Jason Nieva, Patent Officer, and Kenji Vito, Marketing Specialist. During the meeting, Jason Nieva shared UP Cebu TTBDO's initiatives, services, and insights on how innovation-driven collaborations can create meaningful opportunities for academic institutions and their communities.

The UP Cebu Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (TTBDO) was honored to be part of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Benchmarking Activity held at AVR 1. The activity provided an opportunity to learn more about UP Cebu's unique programs, initiatives, and best practices that contribute to the University's growth and development.

Representing UP Cebu TTBDO were Atty. Grace Marie Lopez, Director of UP Cebu TTBDO, Jason Nieva, Patent Officer, and Kenji Vito, TTBDO Staff. During the benchmarking session, Jason Nieva presented the milestones of UP Cebu TTBDO and shared the office's services, including its efforts in intellectual property protection, technology transfer, and support for researchers, innovators, and industry partners.

More than showcasing accomplishments, the activity encouraged meaningful conversations, the exchange of ideas, and stronger connections among higher education institutions. Great learning experiences often begin by stepping into new environments and embracing new perspectives.

Our interns from Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) recently joined the Flip the Script: Reverse Pitching Challenge, where they had the opportunity to witness how innovation takes shape through collaboration, thoughtful discussions, and real-world problem-solving.

Throughout the event, they engaged with innovators, researchers, entrepreneurs, students, government agencies, and industry partners, gaining valuable insights into the importance of understanding challenges before designing solutions. It was an inspiring experience that allowed them to see how ideas are strengthened through teamwork, empathy, and meaningful conversations.
