A collaborative meeting was recently held between the UP Cebu Technology Transfer and Business Development Office and the College of Communication, Art and Design to discuss the proposed permaculture garden within the campus.
French interns Elodie Chevrier and Lois Legrand, currently under UP Cebu TTBDO, were introduced during the meeting. With a background in hydrology, they will assist in developing a plan for a more environmentally sound garden design, including rainwater harvesting, to improve water use efficiency and establish a feasible plan within the campus.

Designer Robert Andrew Hiyas, faculty member of the College of Communication, Art and Design (CCAD) at UP Cebu, participated in the UP Inoblasyon Summit held on May 5–6 at the SMX Convention Center Aura, where he served as a speaker during a breakout session on Indigenous textiles and weaving innovation- heritage and modern production and value chains.
He shared insights and took part in discussions on innovation in the textile field, highlighting opportunities for creativity, research, and collaboration toward advancing the industry.

UP Cebu TTBDO joins UP Inoblasyon Summit to strengthen the country’s innovation ecosystem ✨
Held on May 5–6 at the SMX Convention Center Aura, the event gathered researchers, entrepreneurs, government officials, and industry leaders from across the country to discuss how research, collaboration, and innovation can help address national challenges and contribute to development goals.
Representing UP Cebu TTBDO at the summit were Director Atty. Grace Marie Lopez and UP Cebu TTBDO staff Kenji Vito, who participated in engagements centered on strengthening science, technology, and innovation initiatives through meaningful partnerships and collaboration.
Echoing the summit’s message that “Innovation is always local,” UP President, Atty. Angelo A. Jimenez emphasized the importance of turning intentions into concrete actions that create real impact within communities. Through initiatives like Inoblasyon 2026, stronger collaboration and shared efforts continue to pave the way for a more inclusive and innovation-driven future.

UP TTBDO joined the Blue Economy Workshop: Towards the Establishment of a Visayas Blue Economy Knowledge Hub via Zoom.
The workshop brought together different groups to share ideas and explore ways to support and grow the blue economy in the Visayas.

UP Cebu TTBDO, through UP Cebu inIT, joins efforts in building a stronger innovation ecosystem for Central Visayas ✨
As one of the region’s Technology Business Incubators, UP Cebu inIT took part in the DASIG Central Visayas strategic planning at the CIT University Wildcat Innovation Lab. Alongside fellow TBIs, government agencies, and academic partners, we contributed to shaping the strategies and programs that aim to support startup growth and advance research commercialization in the region.
This initiative reflects our continued commitment to supporting innovators and helping create more opportunities through a knowledge-driven ecosystem in Central Visayas.

Studio Arts students from the “Arts & AI” class of Dr. Shane Carreon gathered on April 20, 2026, for a discussion on Intellectual Property Rights and Artificial Intelligence, led by Grace Marie Lopez of the University of the Philippines Cebu Technology Transfer and Business Development Office.
The session gave students a clearer understanding of how AI connects with creative ownership and the importance of protecting their work. It was a meaningful discussion that helped bridge their artistic practice with real-world awareness of intellectual property.

Students and faculty from UP Cebu joined the University Innovation Awards Orientation and Curriculum Mapping session.
Held online on April 15, 2026 via zoom, the discussion walked participants through the application process, requirements, and the support available for those interested in joining the UP Innovation Awards.
It also gave a clearer picture to the attendees on how to direct their research into real world solutions and entrepreneurial practices.

Third-Year Product Design students under Prof. Lionel Joseph Sanchez gathered for an insightful session on protecting their creative innovations. Atty. Grace Marie Lopez, Director of the UP Cebu TTBDO, kicked off the talk with a comprehensive overview of copyright essentials.
To inspire future-proofing their work, UP Cebu Patent Officer Jason Nieva discussed the strategic benefits of securing patents and utility models for their thesis projects. It was an empowering session dedicated to bridging the gap between classroom design and real-world intellectual property rights.

Last January 31, UP Cebu opened its doors to Grade 11 students from Sacred Heart School - Hijas de Jesus. With guidance from the UP Cebu TTBDO, the students explored academic programs and facilities of the university while also learning key details about the UPCAT. They wrapped up their visit with a quick tour of the campus, offering a sneak peek into the vibrant UP community. We look forward to seeing you in our halls soon!
