At 33, Lenivie Latiban proved that learning has no age limit as she completed Kindergarten at Buku-Buko Elementary School in Boston District.
A mother and laborer, Latiban enrolled in school with a clear goalโto learn how to read.
Although she could already write her name, she struggled with reading and wanted to gain the ability to understand messages and communicate using a cellphone independently.
Despite working long hours in physically demanding jobs such as copra production and hauling abaca, Lenevie remained committed to her studies.
She balanced her responsibilities by attending school with her child and setting aside time to learn before heading to work.
Latiban said her children were her main motivation. She wanted to improve herself so she could guide them in their studies and become more involved in their learning.
Her determination paid off as she successfully completed Kindergarten, sharing the milestone with her child.
She expressed her gratitude to her teachers, especially Maโam Ann, for their patience and support.
Encouraged by her achievement, Latiban now hopes to continue her education and finish elementary school.
Her story highlights the power of perseverance and shows that it is never too late to learn and strive for a better future.
