Congratulations to Fine Arts student Lorie Mae Urgel and her team for winning Globe's 5G Building Craft: Paint Tomorrow competition.

Inspired by Cebu as a "home away from home," their mural transformed stories of family, community, and connection into a visual narrative seen by thousands.

For Lorie, art began as a way to focus and express herself. Today, it has become a platform to tell stories, inspire others, and create impact beyond the classroom.

At the School of Design + Communication, creativity is more than a skill.

It's a way to shape conversations, communities, and the future.

🌈 Earlier this month, the .sdc of the School of Design + Communication proudly partnered with the for the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Summit 2026.

The summit brought together advocates, professionals, public servants, students, and community leaders to engage in meaningful conversations on representation, inclusion, and belonging.

Through this partnership, our student leaders had the opportunity to contribute to an initiative that reflects the values at the heart of design and communication: empathy, dialogue, and human connection.

At sd+c, we believe creativity and communication have the power to bring people together, amplify diverse voices, and help build more inclusive communities.

Last weekend, students joined the sd+c Experience Caravan to get a firsthand look at what it's like to study Strategic Communication, Fine Arts, and Architecture at Southwestern University PHINMA.

Through interactive activities, creative challenges, and conversations with mentors, participants experienced how ideas become campaigns, concepts become designs, and creativity becomes a career.

Ideas were shared. Perspectives were challenged. Futures started to take shape.
